I think it will be closer than the spread since Dykes is not the type to run up scores and wants to protect Buechele, Proche, Jones. With any sizable lead he will have the subs in there to get game experience. I'm hoping to see lots of Gibson, McDaniel, Wiggins, etc. in the fourth Q. I feel certain the kids will come out firing.

To the contrary, though, style points are going to matter if SMU stays in the NY6 race.

The only thing that we can do is win. By how much isn't a factor. If we were like BSU where we need to prove ourselves in a one horse conference then sure.

I think you and others are severely underestimating that SMU is dependent on humans to vote that SMU is better than Boise, in the best-case scenario for SMU's remaining season and assuming Boise wins out. They have been good for a long time. It is not a given that SMU will pass them even if we win out, especially if we have under-impressive, nailbiter wins over the likes of ECU.

I think the CFP committee will put a 1 loss AAC team over 1 loss Boise St any day of the week.

Boise St:

1) Florida St. (W) 36-31 -- not a good win because FSU really tanked and fired their coach
2) Marshall (W) 14-7 - low scoring against a CUSA team..
3) Portland St (W) 45-10 - meaningless
4) Air Force (W) 30-19 - Navy beat Air Force so fairly meaningless
5) UNLV (W) 38-13 - weak MWC opponent
6) Hawaii (W) 59-37 - probably their best win so far and still not that special
7) BYU (L) 25-28 - Huge loss to currently a 4-4 team
SJSU (W) 52-42 - Bottom dweller

Remaining
9) Wyoming
10) New Mexico
11) Utah St
12) Colorado St
13) MWC Champ - Against SDSU - probably the only marquee win they have a chance at.

SMU:

1) W Ranked Temple
2) W Ranked TCU (on the road)
3) L Ranked Memphis (way better than BSU loss)

Upcoming:
4) Ranked Navy (most likely) on the road
5) Decent Tulane team
6) If we get the championship, a ranked Cincy team.

There's no way the committee will put BSU over SMU. Just not possible. I guess it's possible but that should cause a riot.

We'll start fast, and I am expecting a very Temple-like game. It will be a great bounceback performance for the Mustangs, and we'll get to see what some of these young guys can do. ECU scores a couple times late, but the game is put away well before that.
