Al Niemi, Stonehill College and University of Connecticut. Last job before becoming dean at SMU was dean of the business school at U of Georgia where he was known for.....fundraising.......

Does anyone know the current Cox dean's name???? Matt Myers - U of Louisville, U of South Carolina, Michigan State.......

Do any of those schools scream cream of the crop schools? Hell no. Niemi and now Myers have presided over the diminishing rankings of Cox. Our average incoming Cox student has an SAT in the 1400's and we don't do a damn thing to challenge them. Cruise control and keep increasing the tuition. All presided over by Gerald Turner who allows middling performances by his deans.

For fun, check out the biographies of all of our deans. Not one has an impressive pedigree. I would like to think when it is time to find a new president that our BOT will demand we hire someone with an impressive pedigree and that job one of that new president will be to replace all the deans with more impressive, accomplished, driven deans who are committed to raising the level of instruction. Sadly, I am sure Turner will have his hands all over the process and we will get another president who can raise money - and tuition.................

RGT should have 'retired' or been retired a long time ago. twenty plus years is way too long to run a university. We need new blood with fresh new ideas on how to improve our school and its standings. cougar high and tcwho are rapidly catching up and in some instances have already surpassed us.

TCU dropped to the 90s in this year's US News ranking.

UH's president is amazing but she "only" went to Purdue for her PhD. She turned down the Purdue presidency a few years back.

The thing with Myers is that he was a sitting Dean when RGT hired him to lead the Cox School. Most other dean hires are riskier department chairs or special program leaders at top schools. I liked Niemi better but he'd been at the helm for nearly 20 years. Seemed rather smug and Myers is folksy.

UT-Austin and Columbia Deans were internal hires.

USC hired the sitting dean of Wharton. Amazing coup.

Emory's dean (Pomona/Michigan) was the Senior Associate Dean for Executive Education at Darden.

Rice's dean (A&M/Princeton) came from Darden where he was senior associate dean for MBA Programs and chief diversity officer.

UH Bauer dean was a department chair at Temple.

Cox's FT MBA program has 93 students per class. It's dropping from about 125 a few years ago. Rice is growing and has 112 but UTD and TCU only have 46 and 44 FT students. Isn't there more of a focus on the Cox one year program?

We seem to recruit from Miami a lot;

1) Dr. Matthew B. Myers, current Cox dean was dean at Farmers Business School, Miami University for three years until 2017.

2) Dr. Jose Bowen, former Meadows dean was dean of the Miami University School of the Arts for three years.

3) Retired Provost Ross C. Murfin (1996-2005) was Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Vice Provost at Miami University.

2) US News & World Report Rankings, 2004 is 73. (Before this year 50-116 were listed alphabetically), today (2020) is 64, last year was 59, in 2011 and 2017 it was 56 - It's best ranking ever.

3) In 1995, it's endowment was $483 million, it's now $1.67 billion. It has more than tripled.

4) Prior to 1997, SMU had 60 buildings on 160 acres. Today it has 101 buildings occupying 234 acres.

5) SAT Average scores were 1,100 in 1995, now they're 1,310.
