Early signing day

Post by redpony »

Yesterday was early signing day- guess we: a)have no recruits, b) no schollies available, c) no recruiting by 'coach' and his staff.

IIRC the second Wed. of Nov is early signing day for bball. Obviously not fball.
as per wikipedia - First, basketball, along with most NCAA sports, has two signing periods during which all athletes are allowed to sign letters of intent—one in the fall (autumn) and the other in the spring. The early signing period starts on the second Wednesday of November and runs through the third Wednesday of that month

The men do not have any scholarships available at this time.

The women's team signed three yesterday:

I didn’t realize Thursday was early signing day. Friday I was waiting for my eye doctor appointment and a man sitting near me was on his phone. He was telling someone that he talked to (don’t remember the guy’s name) and was told it didn’t happen. He said the guy talked to the academic advisor & was told his SAT scores were good, GPA was good and he was a go. His parents flew in from Chicago for the signing, etc. The recruit got a call at 8:00 the night before signing telling him it wasn’t going to happen. The man ended the conversation saying that he would tell future recruits that a verbal offer from Rice is worthless. I didn’t know what sport would be signing at this time.
