SMU is not going to show up at this bowl game with a dinkier band than we already have. We're not talking the Allen HS 600. It's an ABC broadcast at a favorable time. The SMU brass doesn't want to start "SMU is bankrupt" rumors by touting a pep band.

We should send the alumni band too.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

The entire band or a skeleton band? Sorry 'a band' is not very definitive.

If we are going to opt for the skeleton band, I hope they play "Touch of Grey" in the second set...

As a band alum and band parent, the goal is to get the entire band there. The issue is their plane leaves on Tuesday, and some members have finals Tuesday the 17th and Wednesday the 18th. So any going out later are currently having to fly out on their own dime. That is why 'full' may not be possible.

It happens. I was going to Woodstock but had to cancel because I had an accounting final.

I've taken finals early in professor's offices for band things. Most are willing to work around such shenanigans. It has to happen with players on Thursday games and such.

I was wrongly thinking of NCAA basketball tournament, which covers bands. Thx for the correction.
Yikes on that finals thing. Hopefully they have some accommodating profs.

This is the dumbest discussion ever. And I predicted it would occur 2 months ago.
