Thanks to UConn
I know they are leaving us but they belong in the Big East. I know they are currently a shadow of their former self but the name still carries respect in the basketball world.
I’ll never forget 1/4/14, the night SMU basketball came alive, and the night we became relevant in a major sport. A big part of that night was the opponent, UConn. We went toe-to-toe with the eventual national champs and it was glorious. Every time they visited Moody the game had a special feel. I expect tonight to be the same.

Re: Thanks to UConn
My favorite UConn game was the College Gameday day. Still surreal that it was at SMU and then we throttled UConn in primetime on ESPN.
With all due respect, there will not be a special feel in Moody tonight and it's kinda sad that the arena will prob be half full ... because those first few years playing them at Moody were true EVENTS.

Re: Thanks to UConn
UConn has only won one game all season where the other team scored over 70 - the last game against Memphis.
This game is going to be all about putting the pressure on them offensively.
IMHO, we are either going to come out pissed and score a bunch and win by 15 or 20, or it is going to be a grind it out game and we lose it late.

Everyone on this board recalls how good we were - lest not forget, that opening game at Moody featured the defending NCAA champs.JasonB wrote:UConn has only won one game all season where the other team scored over 70 - the last game against Memphis.

Kind of sad - we will be watching the two AAC teams that have fallen the furthest since the inception of the American Conference in 2013.

I grew up in Syracuse with the Big East. Nothing could compare to that atmosphere of 30K playing Georgetown, UConn, Villanova, St. Johns, etc. Every game was a big game.

I'm starting wonder if there's a traffic situation around the arena. There is almost nobody here.

I assume SMU is a tri-mester school and students are on break. Still....

It only takes a half full Moody for that place to get loud but sure wish we had at least 6k coming out to support these guys...so many big home games coming up!ponyboy wrote:Crowd was loud at the end. Like really loud.
