Please......we don't need another option offense.
Re: Wichita State footballThank you. I had lost my voice saying that so many times.

Re: Wichita State footballWe shouldn't eliminate the best candidate based on the type of offense they run. Didn't SMU run the option offense during the Dicker-James era? Pretty hard to defend.

Wichita State footballWhen it is a popular system with multiple teams running it that is fine. When 4 schools run it and all the others run some sort of spread offense, it lessens your ability to prepare for all your games.
When UT first ran the wishbone they were almost unstoppable. As other schools started running it, the defenses caught up and other systems replaced it. I do not like our team needing to spend a special week in the spring and the off week to prepare for one team. I would be curious to know how much time we spent on Navy’s scheme the week before the ECU game. Our defense was not prepared to handle a mediocre ECU offense and it could well have been due to time being spent on the next game with Navy since ECU should not have been a real threat. Re: Wichita State footballYou make some good points, but we have to prepare for Navy anyway. Why not one more team?

Re: Wichita State footballThose type tackles should be a personal foul.
Re: Wichita State footballIt’s the offensive coordinator’s responsibility to come up with an offense that will compromise the defense. Yes, illegal blocking shouldn’t be allowed.
Re: Wichita State footballCut blocks are not illegal yet. Chop blocks are. Until cut blocks are deemed illegal knees are at more risk against the academy offenses.

Re: Wichita State footballRule 9-1-6-b
Blocking Below the Waist - Defense - Rule 9-1-6-b When the defense is allowed to block below the waist by rule, the block must be directed from the front. This now lines up with the offensive team’s requirement.
Re: Wichita State football
I am talking about the blocking of the offense line of Navy and other such offenses. Read about cut blocking. It is a block, from the front, directed at the knees of the defensive linemen. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Wichita State footballI'll have to leave it to you who have played the game. From what I have read, they are trying to level the playing field. Safety is not the primary concern, as in my opinion it should be. Teams who run the option are typically smaller than their opponents. And they are trying to make physical size less of a factor. That is why below the waist blocking inside the tackle box is still legal.
Re: Wichita State footballBut the aim is angled and at the side of the knees. Just not a fun way for a DL to spend an afternoon.
NCAA is looking into prohibiting the block but it would be very hard to enforce. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
