Two North Texas full-time MBA programs were among the top 50 business graduate schools in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.
The magazine's 2021 Best Graduate Schools ranking said the University of Texas at Dallas and Southern Methodist University were the 33rd and 41st best full-time MBA programs in the nation respectively.
The only other business schools in Texas that made the top 50—Austin’s University of Texas and Houston’s Rice University—ranked higher than the North Texas schools. UT ranked 18th while Rice came in at No. 25.
Recruiters gave UTD a four out of five, a score higher than all the other Texas schools in the top 50. Meanwhile, peers gave the school a 3.2 on the same scale. More than 40 percent of students who applied were accepted to the program and those accepted had a 3.4 undergrad GPA on average.
After getting out of the program, graduate students in UTD’s MBA program made $115,547 on average as their starting salary and bonus. More than 66 percent of graduate students from the Naveen Jindal School of Management had a job by graduation last year.
SMU’s Cox School of Business had 227 students enrolled full-time in their MBA program in 2019. About 89 percent of students that graduate from the program have a job three months after graduating, the lowest number of the Texas schools in the top 50. However, more than 68 percent had a job at graduation in 2019.

UTD must not count international students in the placement statistics and $115k is much higher than I’ve experienced. It’s a solid program but has a much smaller FT MBA program.

If you are embarrassed give a scholarship - that’s what the business school needs most. We are 40 million behind in mba endowed scholarships. A named scholarship is 100k. Get busy and stop complaining and do something.

I have for 8 years counting. If you are buying that our performance in the rankings is due to lack of scholarship money, you aren't paying attention. We've got ineffectual leadership..............

Well maybe our lack of focus on scholarships is a leadership issue, but the issue is scholarship dollars at the MBA level.
Our undergrad (BBA) quality is the best in the state. MBA needs help - and only scholarship dollars will change that.
