Interesting scenario...TE drops back, catches a lateral and passes a game winning toss into the endzone. Should keep the oppossing defense a little nervous. 8)

How about Phillips drops back, takes a lateral pass, throws across the field to Sanders, who reverses and tosses to Givens coming the other way, who then turns and throws the touchdown pass .... to Phillips?

Dammit, I should be a coach.

From what we have seen of CP..........what makes you think if he had just one attempt, he would complete it?

Are you serious? That's surprising -- very surprising.

I also like that he wants to keep 7 on his jersey. When a guy with an unusual number (Aldridge, Adami, Muse, etc.) makes a big play, it's somehow very cool.

Good luck, Chris!

This brings my level of respect for Chris Phillips to a higher level. Here's a guy who has always been the quarterback, the guy who gets the ball on every play. Now he's taking a shot to the pride, perhaps, and learning a new position with just two years left in college football. This is a classy young man. Whether he becomes the next Kellen Winslow or never plays a down, I'm an even bigger Phillips fan than I was before I read this story.

Is there anywhere I can get a #7 jersey?

He's smart enough to recognize that getting a degree from SMU may have more value than a degree from some minor college in elsewhere in Texas or Louisiana! 8)

we'll see how this goes, but it is disappointing. Phillips and Bennett seem to have the right attitude about it. And while i appreciate the article, it says nothing about the supposed rotator cuff problem. Why is Phillips changing positions?

This puts alot of pressure on Willis as a mere redshirt freshman. I really dont like that. Unless he just wins the job in a landslide, you probably have to go with Slater to open the season and bring Willis along a little more slowly. I am encouraged about Willis future, but i would much rather have Phillips starting out the season with his game experience. Oh well, its Bennetts call and he knows this is a crucial year.

....as I predicted about a month ago there was no way in hell Bennett was going to let Phillips step out on the field as a QB at the Red Blue Scrimmage-it just wasn't going to happen. And now we are left with Tom, [deleted] & Harry.

Why do some people on this board feel it's necessary to say 'As I predicted'. WGAS?

Oh get over yourself -- you also predicted that Bamba Fall was "a project who was 2-3 years away from making any kind of contribution." Make enough predictions and some of them will come true!

I predict it will be hotter in August than it was in January.

As I told Thadfilms, at least he's not riding the bench. This is good news because with Phillips in the game at ANY position, this team is better. Hopefully he'll accept the role and make himself stand out at that position.

Considering our plethora (sorry just saw three amigos) of talent at TE, where will Phillips be on the depth chart

I love Chris' attitude. Wish those of us on the board had the same!

I told you several months ago he wouldn't be given the opportunity to win the job and the last thing that Bennett would allow would be for Chris Phillips to line up under center during the Red Blue Game. That still doesn't change the fact that we now have Tom, [deleted] and Harry at QB.
