Darius McNeill
Any thoughts on how he fits?
He can score -- averaged 11 PPG at Cal, and here's a video of him scoring 30.

Anyone know if he can defend?
Got to assume Davis and Jolly start, but he looks good ... at least in highlights.

Re: Darius McNeill
FWIW, I've always been a fan of having a lefty defending top right-handed guards.

Re: Darius McNeill
He will add depth to a backcourt that is already pretty competitive. Guys will have to work [deleted] both ends of the floor to earn minutes. Jolly & Davis are a given and we assume McNeill will factor heavily in the rotation but Band, Smith IV and C.J. will undoubtedly compete for minutes as well. If the younger guys come on strong, we should see some 3 guard lineups this year.

I really hope the five-on-five practices focus more on defense this season.Charleston Pony wrote:He will add depth to a backcourt that is already pretty competitive. I agree we really should have a situation where players have to work [deleted] both ends of the floor to get their minutes!

We saw 3 guard lineups last year. I wonder how often we'll see 4, at least against poor opponents.

If Mike and Hunt don't come back (although I think they will) we may see a lot of 4 guard play.DallasDiehard wrote:We saw 3 guard lineups last year. I wonder how often we'll see 4, at least against poor opponents.

I bet Hunt and Mike are back.
McNeill puts a lot of photos and videos of his workouts on social media. If his game matches his workouts, there could be a real player there.

Re: Darius McNeill
If McNeill pans out and Jasey can take a step forward, the team could be pretty solid.
It would be nice to see Chargois get more focused. He seemed to drift at times last year.

Re: Darius McNeill
With (at least) 4 experienced guards in the rotation there should be motivation to make a difference defensively. I think we’ll definitely see a lot of three guard lineups as well. I’m really hoping IV factors in as well. He’s a freakish athlete.
