Trivia question

Post by Charleston Pony »

For all you bored SMU football fans, here's one you might really struggle with (if you don't look it up). Who holds the SMU record for kickoff return yards in a single game? Hint: you might immediately think Doak Walker or Jerry Levias, but you have to think about some of the really bad teams we've had in the post death penalty era...and it didn't happen in the game Houston hung 95 on us!

Deion Sanders Jr had 203 kickoff return yards on 10 returns in the 2014 game vs Central Florida.

That's a record that will be tough to beat. Some future stud might have to return one to the house and have multiple returns in another track meet type of game.

Hopefully we never give up enough scores that anyone has anywhere near 10 returns in a game.

I don't know if you looked it up, but I was sure it would be Jessie Henderson. Shows what I know.

That would have been my guess just based on the number of opportunities he had

How about the game where Okie State set a ton of records on SMU?

Didn't one WR have like 7 TDs or something ridiculous like that?

Rashaun Woods in a 52-6 beat down that saw Richard Bartel get benched for Tate Wallis. Another shining moment during the Phil Bennet era!

Not sure the coverage mattered. We had defenders on him a lot of the time and he just out played them. Man against boys.
