Traditionally in California, it is two states politically. Northern cal is democrat and southern cal (outside of the downtown areas of LA and SD) is conservative. The rise in cases in California is in the southern part of the state in traditional republican counties.

This whole mess just shows that a lot of people just listen and follow what their leaders say. If it were the Democrats telling people to go against science and logic, their followers would do the same thing. People listen to who they want to and stick their head in the sands when any other information comes in.

There is no science that says schools should remain closed.
In fact, science says just the opposite.

No, politicians say the opposite. The vast majority of objective scientists have acknowledged that learning at home and online will present challenges to many families, but that it is far safer than going to schools. If a kid gets sick, does the whole class get sent home for quarantine? Will the teachers be paid during quarantine (you know, while shelling out their own money for school supplies for students at under-funded schools)? What happens when a quarantined student, even if asymptomatic, transmits it to an older family member? There is no sound science to support attending schools in person.

That's right. US has the highest death as a proportion of population. Cases just helped spread it to those corpses.
