DisappointedLeave sports alone.
Re: DisappointedWatched the clip and he was talking about solidarity and empathy. Disappointed about what exactly?
Re: Disappointed
So what? I'm disapointed that I have to share an alma mater with folks like you. Get a life. If you don't think "stick to sports" is politcal take then I have news for you.
Re: DisappointedHad nothing wrong with the players message. Just don’t see why SMU chose to link itself to BLM.
Re: DisappointedSMU is just way too frat-tactic of a school. Not sure that I would ever send my kids there. Would like them to be exposed to a variety of ideas.
Re: Disappointed
There are some schools with more "variety" in Portland, Seattle, and the new San Fransicko of Texas....Austin.
Re: Disappointed
This is really, really shortsighted, from both of you. One of the things that I cherished about my time at SMU was the different perspectives shared during my time there. One one hand, you have the traditionally conservative nature of the frat scene. On the other, you have a very strong liberal arts and theater program, which trend to the left. And then mix in the independents from the engineering department. The ability to support a wide variety of views on campus is one of the things that makes SMU great, and is something that our country should want to emulate. There is something to be said for a traditionally conservative school, with a Republican Presidential Library on campus, being so outspoken about equal rights and being adamant about student and staff safety during covid while resisting being pulled into either extreme of the political spectrum. They are focused on doing the right thing, rather than worrying about which political side it falls on, and I commend SMU for taking that approach.
Re: DisappointedI choose to support what Dr. King had to say about racial equality.
Hopefully SMU is still teaching students the greatness of Dr. King and his powerful words. Today of all days... ![]() "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: DisappointedJason B.
Love the wrap up of experiences. I am a constitutional conservative but social moderate. I have friends that are super left. Some make movies, some are lawyers - both give smiles and hugs. I have friends further right than myself. Those are nice people that give smiles and hugs. Bottom line is, I met them ALL at SMU. At this time we have a major push through the media. Relax, read, learn and remember, this is an election year and the media is feeding your thoughts. Yahweh's, God's, Allah's Peace be with you. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: DisappointedThis issue is both deeply confounding and thoroughly simple. The simple part is that black people are worthy of love and respect. I have had some very interesting conversations with a friend of mine, a black man who is a left-leaning head of a seminary in South Dallas. If he says his community is angry, hurting, and fearful -- that's all I needed to hear.
Re: DisappointedI think what he said and the video is beautiful. Can't believe any on here would even have any kind of "issue" with it all. Disappointed?!? WTF.
Re: Disappointed
My issue is with the BLM logo. BLM and SMU don’t belong together.
Re: DisappointedWhat’s wrong with Bo Levi?
Re: DisappointedAmerica is a special country - it was founded on a bedrock of great ideals - one of the finest is freedom of speech - everyone in America is entitled to their viewpoint - I for one totally disagree with yours that “BLM and SMU don’t go together” - I think it important that for the people who read this thread do not think that everyone who is apart of SMU whether they are alums, students, faculty, staff or friends of SMU believes that your viewpoint is what SMU is all about
