Info on T Cell / COVID business
Since this was brought up prior, figure folks might want to get a pretty high level update on the latest info available.
TL;DW - T Cell Immunity doesn't mean you're immune from infection etc. Tamp down those expectations and keep your masks handy. Hank is much better than me though. Enjoy.

Re: Info on T Cell / COVID business
Doesn't help with immunity. Could potentially help with the severity. But it isn't a reason why the "herd immunity" rate would lower.
On a side note, new study in peer review is showing that wearing mask not only limits exposure, but when even when you do get infected, it reduces the amount of virus taken into the body limits the severity of the virus.
In short, there is a correlation between the amount of mask wearing and lower death rates/severe infection rates. They are trying to prove some level of causation.

I think it's clear that mask wearing slows the progress of the disease. Whether it's ultimately preventable, that's another question entirely.

One assumes the reference is to the PNAS published study. Here is the link to the study so one can read it for oneself.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32527856/
And here is a rebuttal outlining what a pile of steaming manure the study is and why it's a steaming pile of manure
https://ncrc.jhsph.edu/research/identif ... -covid-19/
This letter to the editor of PNAS has some highlights why the 'study' has flaws which might be of interest.

And I'm sure the usually person attacks about how I'm ignorant, a denier, some (fill in the blank)ist.

You are such a fill in the blank-ist (for providing some good reads to fill in the blanks. Thanks!)

He died from COVID. He was 74 and had lived a long, full life. We cant shut down our economy and society indefinitely just because some people want to influence the election. My recitation of statements above indicate that the ΓÇ£expertsΓÇ¥ have no clue whatΓÇÖs going on. I mean this seriously, this whole Covid charade has been a damning indictment of the legitimacy of the scientific community.
What if we never find a vaccine (weΓÇÖve been trying to find one for HIV for what, 35 years?), or what if a vaccine isnΓÇÖt particularly effective? Are we going to wear masks for the next 50 years? IΓÇÖm too pretty for that.

No, this:
https://www.foxnews.com/health/coronavi ... -use-study
The link to the study is in the article, but I thought it would be amusing to post a fox news article based on the response above.
It is very new, no peer review yet, so I don't think any contradictory studies have been illustrated. Again, there is a correlation, the question is whether there is causation.

He died from COVID.
Oh yeah. He went to a large gathering where there were no masks. That was it. Thanks for jogging my memory. Hopefully the loss of potential future life with his family is offset by the knowledge that he ain't no sheeple. Definitely weighted higher on the Util scale than having him around for longer.

Tonight IΓÇÖm going to enjoy a succulent steak dinner at Al BiernatΓÇÖs. I encourage you to get out and live your life, too. Fearmongering on an internet message board about a virus with a, what, 99.9% survival rate for people under 65 without preexisting conditions is no way to live.
