25 years? What mayor in Dallas was ever as bad as she has been? Let's just say

"Laura Miller.. Worst mayor in the history of Dallas"

Thankyou..............

The only positive that I can see about a TCU vs. UT series is that most likely TCU will get blown out, and we don't have to hear about the TCU's potential "undefeated" crap in that weak a** conference.

Question:

If UT vs. OU moves out of the cotton bowl, what happens with the Cotton Bowl game? Arlington?

Those are some pretty bold statements, I'm no longer a fan of Laura Miller, and I probably won't vote for her if she decides to run, but to lay all the blame at her feet for every [deleted] poor thing that is going on in Dallas, and Dallas County is not being truthful to the state of government in Dallas right now.

In my personal opinion, the only way to make Dallas function under its current system requires skills that I don't think Miller has, but it also requires the city council and the Dallas County Commissioners to actually work for the good of the whole community. I don't think any of them are doing that right now.

Excellent point, Abezontar. In no way will I ever defend Laura Miller, but a large portion of the blame for Dallas not getting the Cowboys lies with the County Commissioners. They basically refeused to negotiate with the Cowboys and tried to shove a plot of land west of 35 on the Cowboys.

I agree that the only way for Dallas to move forward is for the County Commissioners, the Mayor and the City Council to work cooperatively.

It is a tragdey that they couldn't get a deal done for Fair Park. It would have been great development in a part of the city that really needs it.

Say what you will about Laura Miller NOT being the deciding factor in so many things not happening for Dallas.

But.. As much as I'm not a Democrat.. Ron Kirk would have NEVER allowed this crap to happen. He was able to work with the Dallas City Council.. which is a minor miracle these days.

Have to vent..

Cowboys go to Arlington -
Was told that AAC had a lot to do with this because the City of Dallas had signed some contract that did not allow another venue within the city to compete with the AAC on concerts/events. I'm sure there's more to it.. but the ball was dropped and Jerry pulled the plug because I'm sure he saw the writing on the wall. Personally, I don't blame him much because she's an idiot and the Dallas City Council.. well.. several expletives. Money from a Super Bowl, Final Four, new hotels in the area staying full for conventions, retaining the TX/OU game. My gosh.. how could you drop the ball here?

Trinity River Project -
Boy, this has been.. and continues to be the biggest waste of money. I doubt any of us see this in our lifetime.. but I'm so tired of hearing how great it's going to be. Hell.. a Cowboys Stadium in Fair Park could have revitalized a portion of land that stretched all the way to this moneypit of a project - a corridor to the Trintiy River Project and Downtown! Again.. millions of dollars down the tube.

TX/OU Game -
First of all.. how long have their fans complained? How long have their AD's threatened to pull the plug? How long has it taken for anything to happen? How much longer does this [deleted] stay in office? Idiots..

Prediction - Fair Park is going to get worse (I know, hard to believe) than it already is. Dallas isn't doing crap to clean-up down there. We're short on cops and have taken in more felons from the New Orleans area.. 2nd to Houston. It will be announced that the Cotton Bowl is going to be Leveled.. and all the old-timers will be like.. What? How can that be? Let's save it! The Bowl game will be lost to JerryWorld and Arlington (not Dallas) will roll in the money.

I know.. most of this isn't a bold prediction at all. Infact the wheels are in motion. But isn't it something to read what's happening here? Arlington, Frisco.. and even Ft. Worth should make Dallas feel embarrassed.

Actually, Texas-OU is the second biggest day for the state fair behind grambling/ prarie view game. A lot of the Texas-OU people go for the game and leave. The grambling/ prarie view fans are there all day.

Problem with losing Texas-OU is some vendors may leave the fair and the Cotton Bowl won't be upgraded, which will eventually drive grambling/ prarie view to Jerry World.

It really is a shame.

There are a lot of people begging Kirk to run again. He repeatedly says he has no interest. I think that stinks.

so we trade UT/OU for TCU/UT and TCU/LSU. That will look good to the Dallas recruits while SMU schedules 3 Blind Mice.

If Laura can get the Wright amendment lifted, I will forgive her other transgressions.

Ah.. another good point jtstang. It's not really her fault, but it's on her watch.

I pray that this is true. Great day for the program when the game is moved.

I predict local recruiting will be immediately improved.

Once again I agree with Stallion here. We have seen the quality of our schedule go down and down, with no improvement in our record. At least in the early 90s we'd put up a fight against North Carolina, Wisconsin, and the occasional A&M team. Who would have thought those would be my "good ol days"

Boy your city council is as bad as DC's who almost lost the Washington Nationals by renegotiating the deal they'd already signed off on. They finally gave in at the 12th hour, but I guess if you're a local elected official, you get to play God and think you're a god.

Double amen, world.......One cautionary note regarding the esteemed Madame Mayor. I haven't seen where she is really motivated to lift the Wright Amendment. I don't recall her ever coming out strongly in favor of repeal. All I have seen it that she and the mayor of Ft Worth have pledged to try to handle this thing locally to keep the feds from deciding. With Moncrief on record of opposing the repeal and her being luke warm, I smell another cluster#$%^& coming.

I understand to some degree about how some people don't like Laura Miller, and I agree that there is less happening than when Kirk was in office. However, I think the real issue is that she is unable to get anything done since she has been at odds with the City Council from day one. It seems more and more to me that it is the City Council that is the problem not the individual at the top. Doesn't anyone remember the FBI raiding the offices of several council members.

Maybe I am incorrect, but I think that the council has been at odds with Laura Miller since day one because she is a rich, opinionated, white woman. Anyone who thinks that race and status don't enter in to the equation are dead wrong.

Overall, I don't think Laura Miller has done enough, but I am unsure how much she can do with the structure of our city's government.
