Re: SMU vs. Cincinnati GAME THREAD
Cincy goes on a 15-2 run against a clueless SMU team to pull away. That was a sorry 5 minutes of basketball I just witnessed. Probably only watched half of this game tonight but what I saw suggests this team is absolutely a bottom half of the AAC team and just might be Jank's last SMU team.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Just curious about your thought process.
Re: SMU vs. Cincinnati GAME THREAD
Have you watched our games the last few seasons? Did you watch tonight? We have equal or better talent than our opponents and have had too many epic collapses. This is just one of far too many to count.GrapevineMustang wrote:Anything specific to this game? Or general dislike?mustangxc wrote:Fire Jankovich!

Re: SMU vs. Cincinnati GAME THREAD
That was awful basketball.
We have the talent on the team to be a lot better. But on offense the shots were rushed. The announcer was correct - there is no reason we shouldn't have been up double digits. But every time up 6, we would take an absolutely horrible shot - a rushed three, or a blind drive and turnover by Hunt or Yor.
Defensively, that was last season's defense. Nobody staying home, no close out, no inside presence, no physicality, no rebounding. It bubbled up in the Houston game, and this is not a good trend. Nobody stays home and boxes out, we aren't pressing the ball, and we aren't closing down.
The talent on the team is there to make the tourney, but tonight there wasn't enough discipline on offense or defense. Jank is going to have to turn that around quickly before we lose our grip on the entire season.

Re: SMU vs. Cincinnati GAME THREAD
This part bothered me the most. It really seemed like we had improved our defense this season with all of the good five-on-five practices, but like you said some bad trends started to show against Houston.JasonB wrote:Defensively, that was last season's defense. I was hoping we could correct some things this week in our five-on-five practices but things still fell apart unfortunately.
These end of game total collapses in the past few seasons are starting to become troubling.

Re: SMU vs. Cincinnati GAME THREAD
The announcer was really trying to jazz up the fans. Come on Pony fans, "SMU!"...or..."DEFENSE!"
There were about half as many fans in attendance as the UH game and the box score showed just over 1500 so that must be the number of available seats. I commend the ticket office staff for great customer service. Our seats were removed last game and they were very responsive and made sure our remaining tickets were correct.
It's just these second halves, at least for the last two games.
