Question for DR's

Post by geezerdonk »

Not an MD but I have superannuated, non-functional knees. I get Supartz shots. They offer some help.
A long tradition of existence.

Kosher Dill pickles every day. Pure antidotal advise. 5 years ago I had to plan standing up, walking a few feet. Pain was excruciating. Then had some dill pickles as an appetizer one evening at dinner with a friend. The next morning I didn't have to plan walking. Now I walk miles. I have much, much less Pain. Cost a significant amount less money and it has not a single scientific study to support it. As I said, antidotal. But its cheap and I happen to like kosher dill pickles. So far no noticeable side effects after 5 years.

I have documented osteoarthritis that is severe. I have a bone on bone shoulder that the pickles don't help. But knees, its been a miracle.

Was part of a Phase III study using Viscosupplementation for shoulder arthritis. I received no benefit from Viscosupplementation. Arthritis was too far advanced to help me.

I did notice I had significant relief from shoulder pain when I started riding a road bike multiple times a week averaging about 100+ miles a week. Basically physical therapy. I had no improvement in joint mobility for my shoulder.

my thought exactly...probably Clement's lead shoulder, too.

GREAT block...and Craig had the juice to take it to the house.

Rydell loves this thread!!!

Going in at 61 to try to do something before it is too late. Neck is another bad area. Doing traction for pain. I don't like the pain pills.

you might want to try glucosamin chrondroitin. My dr. suggested it yrs ago and I still use it. Need to try it for 90 days plus to see if it works. For some it works well and for other not so much.
good luck.

As a heart patient, I had to go on a beta blocker which actually made my knees feel great until he put me on a statin and then back to pain again.
