SMU/OSU series

Post by osu9400 »

Do you think we'll strike this series back up again soon? I enjoy the trip to Dallas. It's an easy drive. The campus is in a beautiful part of town and Ford Stadium is very nice.

Who knows. Perhaps if OSU brought a crowd...the last time with a National Ranking they didn't help us sell out...so prob not.

you are so full of [deleted]. They brought the crowd. At least 12-14,000 maybe as much as 17,000 as many many OSU were siitting in SMU season ticket holder seats. SMU fans were the ones that didn't show up and the difference will brought home to you when we open with Sam Houston State Penitentiary

Right or wrong, until we're kicking teams all over the place, we do rely on their fans to help fill the seats. You think Oklahoma State was scheduled so we could all watch Rashaun Woods go nuts? The only way we schedule a team like that (see A&M) is for a guaranteed sell-out.

Relax. I would tend to believe GoRedGoBlue's post was tongue-in-cheek. Ray Charles could see that. Oops, make that Stevie Wonder.

I wouldn't mide the OSU vs. SMU matchup. I have a friend that graduated from OSU and I know he would love to see a game in Dallas again. Plus, it is not like OSU is the same team that they were with Reshaun Woods and Tatum Bell. It would be a more competitive matchup than A&M if you ask me.

FYI, the stadium was pretty filled when OSU came. Granted Tech filled it up, but I was personally sitting in a sea of orange. The closed SMU fan was at least 10 rows away. By the way, I got really sick of them getting up and doing that arm sway thing after every touchdown. I would love the chance to prevent them from standing up at all.

Seriously, OSU and Tech both bring impressive crowds. God sometimes it feels as if we're at an away game.

I would like to have another series with Oklahoma State...as others have pointed out they bring thousands of fans to Ford Stadium.

Hey A$$Wipe, you just LOOOOOVE to over interpret things dont you?

The fact is that we didn't get a sell-out. That is the point. No sellout then why play them and get our [deleted] kicked.

true no sellout, but the stadium had to have been as full as it was for the Kansas opening day game, and it was all in orange. That 95% capacity was a hell of a lot better than we have drawn for any game except TT. Too bad Kansas doesn't travel well for football, then at least we could sell out the stadium and have it in red an blue.

No I think it would be better if you analyzed it for the first time. 15,000 fans multiplied by a conservative 20$ a ticket or other revenue equals $300,000. In fact, that game I believe was a premium game and tickets may have been more. Assuming $30 a fan thats $450,000. SMU Football has been hiding behind the skirt of big time teams like Tech, OSU, TCU, Baylor et al. This year we get to see just how many SMU fans there are that still support this pathetic program.

This is precisely why SMU should be in the Big 12 instead of Baylor. The fans of every Big 12 team, football and basketball, would rather spend a week end in Dallas instead of Waco. They probably spend the weekend in Dallas anyway and drive from Dallas to Waco and back on game day. Who in the hell wants to spend a week end in Waco?
