Re: SMU Beat Writer Joe HoytHe does a great job.
Re: SMU Beat Writer Joe HoytI can't wait to read the article. An extension would say a lot about SMU's future (especially with two Big12 openings). It may also indicate SMU is in a good position to receive a future invitation to the league (supported by Baylor's SicEm365 reporting).
Re: SMU Beat Writer Joe Hoyt
My hope is that the Big 12 says they're sending invites out and then the PaC12 invites TCU, SMU, Houston and Rice. It would be sweet justice given the four were left out originally. Insert "this is fine" GIF

@statsowar I have been informed that a certain Mustang is headed ~30 miles west.https://twitter.com/statsowar/status/14 ... 6929839109 Mustang from India
Re: SMU Beat Writer Joe HoytAlso behind the DMN paywall is a story entitled, "National analyst doubts that Sonny Dykes has interest in Texas Tech, a Power Five job ‘in name only"
Joel Klatt says, "I think you can make a strong argument that SMU is a better job, and Red Raiders fans are after me, by the way." <some good bits about TTech's Kirby Hocutt being even less popular right now than Rick Hart> Finishes with: "So, is SMU about similar with Texas Tech? Probably. Because at least right now, Sonny’s got something built to the point where he can be undefeated, he understands his model, and he gets to live in Dallas and not in Lubbock.” So there's something encouraging for the Pony Nation. IMHO Mr. Hart needs to get Sonny's signature on a piece of paper before he goes home tonight. "It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Re: SMU Beat Writer Joe HoytI know it's difficult for people who live in Dallas and love it to understand, but there are people who actually prefer living in Ft Worth or even Lubbock. We can only hope Sonny is not one of them.
Re: SMU Beat Writer Joe Hoyt
I was raised in FW. All the way through high school. FW is "where the west begins." I MUCH prefer Dallas over FW. Maybe going to SMU has a lot to do with that feeling, though.
Re: SMU Beat Writer Joe HoytJoe at DMN is doing a fantastic job. Coverage doesnt even have to be positive, just happy to see that its fair. What an improvement over Sam "worst journo ever" Blum
Re: SMU Beat Writer Joe Hoyt
Sonny was raised in West Texas. Both Fort Worth and Lubbock personify West Texas to a far greater degree than Dallas. His wife also is a Tech alumnus. Given both TCU and Tech are also larger P5 programs it would come as no great surprise if he left though I hope for the sake of SMU he stays in Dallas.
