Played golf with him once. Nice man. He was a great coach on the field. Unfortunately, he couldn't control the boosters. Prayers for his family and friends.

Sad news...lead some of our best teams. When he came here, ALL he wanted to do was coach football, he was a coach first. Sorry that he boarded an out of control train, that in some ways, still haunts us today. RIP Coach.

Great football coach and an even a better man. He unfortunately walked into a hornets nest at SMU.

Praying for his family. He lived a full life in many forms.

Choosing to ignore for years the Ron Meyer/Bobby Collins teams because of the "stigma" was a knee jerk reaction of the worst sort. It embittered former players, and fractured a fanbase even more. Shameful.

Collins was never invited in any way, shape or form back to campus. That was a travesty in itself. Not SMU's best look.

Bobby Collins was a great man and a great coach. I always felt bad for him, that he got this black stain on his name and his coaching career was ruined in his prime. He was only 52 or 53 when this went down, his ability to earn was taken away unfairly. I'm sure it hung heavy over his heart, for the rest of his life. Rest in peace Coach Bobby Collins.
