Re: SMU Head Coach Candidates
really think we need a coach who knows Texas and has a lot of h.s. coaching connections. With a new staff next year will probably be a total rebuilt- wash, rinse, repeat.
Re: SMU Head Coach Candidates
Patterson is probably not going to do better than SMU - age and he is known as a pain the rear. He also would not have to uproot his life - maybe a Dallas apartment, but keep his nice home and life in Ft. Worth. There are probably some better candidates, but not that many. The problem is there are about to be a lot of openings and really not that many great candidates.

Chadwell at Coastal is a good coach, but he does not have Texas experience.

I actually really like the Deion Sanders plus keeping Samples idea. Deion will bring a national spotlight to a program that is looking to make the next step forward. He is a naturally good recruiter and has had success at Jackson State (currently 10-1 and atop their division). I know he might be loud and over the top but we need someone like that. I am so tired of seeing our team come out completely flat in big games. Just needs to higher solid coordinators and I think he can really take SMU to the next level.

Someone whose name hasn't been mentioned, is there a reason? Sonny Cumbie may be looking for a job soon. If you offered him $4.0 Million/year to coach SMU, I'd bet he would take it. I'm with BUS though, I hope Sonny Dykes stays, he seems to have a good handle on the transfer portal.

Where did Jimmy coach in college?
Kendal Briles knows Texas. Could he recruit a top notch staff? Lebbie at Ole Miss?

Still like the GP idea. Plus- I would enjoy knowing that tc-who is paying part of his salary while coaching against them. how ironic.
KB may be good but not sure we want somebody previously associated with rape-U.

Re: SMU Head Coach Candidates
Former TCU Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson and his wife, Kelsey, took to social media earlier this week to express their gratitude to Fort Worth and TCU fans.

ΓÇ£After 24 years, Kelsey and I are at a loss of words to describe how we feel about Fort Worth and TCU,ΓÇ¥ PattersonΓÇÖs post read, according to a report in 247Sports. ΓÇ£This is why it has taken me so long to respond. We just want to say thank you for your friendship and support. To all the players and staff that are our friends, we love you and thank you for all of your time, hard work and effort. They say it takes a village and that is absolutely true. Lastly, I want to thank my family for their sacrifices so that I could do something that I absolutely loved to do. Always your friends, Kelsey and Gary.ΓÇ¥

Add to list.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
