This is incredibly disappointing news but the even larger embarrassment are the people in power that led to this situation unfolding and putting these kids in such a horrible spot (Hart / RGT / anyone else complicit who all need to be gone as of yesterday). Responsibility starts at the top and by all indications they have mishandled things for a long time.

Not arguing with that, but if they fired him mid-week, could they reasonably prepare for Tulsa? Maybe it would have been the right move, if only for spite ("you didn't quit ΓÇö we fired you"), but at this point, I guess the priority had to be what is best for the players, especially the seniors.

Before we lay all this on Sonny, all these players were recruited by Samples, and from what I have read a number of teams have been bidding on SamplesΓÇÖ services. It might very well be Samples pushing the decommitments for his own purposes. They may not wind up at TCU.

You know tcu leaked it. TheyΓÇÖve been leaking it for weeks right before big games to f**k with smu. And Sonny is just as guilty as they are for going along with it. For a school that claims weΓÇÖre not their rival theyΓÇÖve spent a lot of attention on us lately.

And I still donΓÇÖt get why heΓÇÖd leave for tcu. Is being in the big12 that big of a deal?? WeΓÇÖre offering more money, weΓÇÖre actually in Dallas, and tcu will never win the new B12!

Dykes wanted to take the easy way out. Expectations at SMU were that he should have the team competing for conference championships every year. Toadies just want break even and become bowl eligible most years. They are the next to worse program in the worst (soon to be ex) P5 conference. Just by random chance it will be hard not to improve on that showing. If he can't become competitive with WVU and KSU he'll be joining Chad in the high school ranks. It seems like a death sentence career move but he made that bed, he can sleep in it. Feel sorry for the recruits he is trying to flip to go to that purple cesspool. Hope they realize he is full of empty promises.

IIRC when JJ was coming here he insisted on no leaks or the deal would be off. Amazing that SD was such a snake that he wouldn't insist in the same thing. Just shows what a liar he is and how two-faced he is.
