Would Gary Patterson come to SMU?

Should we pursue him? I'd say absolutely not, due to the rivalry. I don't like him, but I respect what he was able to accomplish at TCU. GP turned down multiple better offers to stay at TCU and build something. We need to find our own version of him, but not him IMO. Hoped SD was that guy; oh well. Let's not forget that we took a chance on a coach who'd been fired from a P5 school after working his way through the ranks. What he offered in return was to start something and not finish it once the possibility of greener pastures again presented itself; and next door to boot.

I don’t think GP would be looking to jump ship after a few good years at SMU. I think there is a possibility he would stay here for the long haul. However, I can’t say that about whoever else AD Hart hires next. Just my opinion.

Fair point, at least he's got a track record of longevity, and moving a team from G5 to P5. Something to be said for that, but still a hard no for me due to what he did specifically to SMU during his tenure.

IIRC, none of us liked the way he threw his coaches, players, opposing players/coaches under the bus when things didn’t go his way (have y’all already forgotten he made a false accusation against our player just a couple of months ago?!?). Besides, name one SMU girl who’d stoop so low to be his towel girl.

Patterson has lost it. Not good enough for TCU, why would we think he could build anything here? He was tolerable when he was winning. Now all he is is whining and not winning. Not a nice combo. I'm sure he would come if we asked but he would be about #200 on coaches we want list.

Little Ricky had nothing to do with the decision. The Boosters are the one that reached out to Lashlee and got him on board. Ricky and Turner are irrelevant now.
