Off to a good start. Love the fact that Lashlee was announced as SMU's new coach before anything official about Sonny to TCU...don't let that door hit you in the arse Soony and I hope that contract has been signed in Ft Worth. Would hate to see you become JJ to Arizona State 2.0

ED and Mayor Johnson seem to like the choice.

I mean, we had to scoop him up in one of our choppers first. https://twitter.com/TCUFootball/status/ ... 78432?s=20

It's almost comical that this time of year everyone thinks they have hired their new savior. I seem to recall Sark was going to rescue Texas from the abyss this year. Will be fun to see how it all plays out 2-3 years from now and who get praised or blasted for those big leaps forward or backwards from this season. TCU has at least put Sonny in position to show immediate improvement in Ft Worth, especially if UT and OU aren't on the schedule. Lashlee could have a tough time doing better than the 8-4 season our guys had, even though SMU had only one win vs a team with a winning record.

That was pretty cool! SMU with its decisiveness made an unspoken statement that we really don't miss Dykes and upgraded to Lashlee.

I suspect I am in a minority here, but not having B12 membership is hardly the end of the world. If the B12 goes through with its plan of adding Boise St and Memphis, their average US News academic ranking will be a pathetic 165. SMU is better than that.
We need to focus on 3 things – Academics Attendance Championships
Academics – There are currently 12 schools ranked in the Top 50 in both Academics and Football: Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Stanford, Texas, UCLA and USC and Wisconsin.
SMU needs to become one of these schools.
With our current $1.5B Ignited Campaign, we should move closer to a Top 50 USN ranking. There is no excuse for SMU to not be a Top 50 academic school.
Attendance - I remember the Cotton Bowl had Methodist Day, Band Day, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Day, Boy Scout/Girl Scout/Cub Scout Day. As a student I experienced Mustang Mania. I don’t think SMU has ever made a genuine attempt of making the Boulevard welcoming to casual fans. We’ve had 20+ years at Ford Stadium to our hone our skills, we’ve done nothing, and it shows. We have to find a way to get 25k minimum to each game. It costs ~$650 to attend an NFL game in Arlington. We need to create a fun family environment closer to $40. I was at Costco a couple of nights ago, my kid got a Hot Dog and Soft Drink for $1.50. It’s so cheap because Costco’s founder understood the bigger picture. If our goal is P5 with all the millions it entails, why wouldn’t we have that same mindset?
Championships - It’s time to get back to the basics, and for SMU that means paying its players, this time NIL style and in an organized way. I think PonyLaw held an NIL event for some of our players. I wish he would post how it went and what he thinks the best approach is going forward. Oh, and we should name our NIL campaign ‘A Payroll to Meet’.
Accomplish these goals of Academics Attendance Championships and if/when the Great Reset occurs and only 50-60 schools are left standing, SMU may very well be one of them. Those schools in the new Big12…no way.

Love this^^... And Lashlee is the far more impressive coach than the recently departed toad... I would not put it past Lashlee swaying some of the recruits to chose SMU... I mean if it is all about the coaches then for me it would be a no-brainer

I would not be too excited about a photo like this. Reminds me of the used car salesman Chad Morris and his tempo copter hype at SMU...and we all know how well that ended! Maybe it will help TCU improve enough to beat SMU when our team has down years. Just make sure you don't schedule SMU in November
