Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceAnd their coach - Mendenhall - who has been there for 5 years (read - recruited all the players on the team) announced he will be stepping down, but will coach the bowl game, so all they players have that incentive to play for.
While our AD hasn't decided yet who will be coaching SMU yet....
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceWouldn't that be Lashlee's choice?
Plagiarize!
Let no one else's work evade your eyes. Remember why the good lord made your eyes. So don't shade your eyes, just Plagiarize, plagiarize, plagiarize! (Only be sure always to call it, please .... "research.")
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceI like the match up. Playing against a P5 in a bowl is better than a G5 opponent. UVA appears to have played a good schedule so a good opponent as well. I hope for once we are motivated to pay and not show up like the last 2 bowl games.
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceLiving in VA and having grown up in VA, I have a ton of UVA friends who are already starting to ask me to bet on the game. Wish it were in Annapolis, but I'm checking on AmTrak fares up there. The train ride from New Haven to Boston is beautiful. Also, trains can move through snow. Planes not so much.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glance
In an interview on Tuesday, Lashlee said that it was Hart's decision and he had not been informed of the plan.
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceEven if Lashlee isn't going to coach the bowl game he is hopefully running the bowl practices so we can start getting ready for the new stuff next season!
Shake It Off Moody
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceI would sure hope that Lashlee coaches the team and uses it to start to prepare for next season. I can't think of any argument on why he wouldn't coach the team.
#Beat Clemson
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceRecent interview suggested he will "support the team" but won't be coaching. Instead, he will be working on putting together his staff and recruiting
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceRead some where that there was some possibility of asking the departed coaches to come back and coach the Bowl game. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT...THEY SHOULD NOT BE ANYWHERE NEAR OUR PLAYERS.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glance
Agreed!
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceI would think Coach Lashlee would want to coach the team in the bowl.
If we lose, it won't reflect too poorly on him, and if we win he will start his SMU tenure 1-0 with a victory over an Atlantic Coastal Coalition team! Plus it should be a really fun and memorable bowl game. An object at rest cannot be stopped!
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceAlso it can't hurt that he already faced UVA once this year so he can bring that insight.
Re: Virginia Cavaliers — first glanceLashlee has already prepped to play the UVA defense as offensive coordinator of Miami. Seems that would be quite valuable in preparing for this one…
I hope he coaches the team! "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR
