Kid from College Station and Goree are both real players.

Not a bad way to start things out.

Smith is the real deal. Good Catholic prep school with solid coaching and a tough schedule. He's probably a good student and well disciplined (St. Johns students wear uniforms and are called Cadets) St. Johns was the #1 ranked team in the DC metro area.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

looks like a pretty good group. Let's hope we can fill any missing holes via transfer or late signers.

Now we need some PORTAL OLs that can block for our skill players...

I am actually surprised/disappointed that our new coaching staff wasn't able to switch any of their former recruits to come to SMU.

Give them time. Miami is in a Bowl game and even though not a big one, they are still fun for the players. Some could transfer after the bowl game. But also, they are a P5 school in a city that has a night life they may enjoy. But the transfer portal is always open.

With the exception of Prime's signing day shocker, you just don't see H.S. recruits flipping from a P5 commitment to a G5 program. Plenty of stud recruits flipping at the highest levels, but I wouldn't expect any Miami or OU recruits to flip to SMU...but as Mrydel said, there is plenty of time for this new staff to plug some holes via the transfer portal. A lot of kids will want to complete their academic year where they are and will then transfer during the summer

But remember we may have players that hit the portal after our bowl game. Hold your breath and hope we do not lose some key players.

Larry Brown Sports has an excellent article covering this. Simply put, it's frowned upon in college football for a coach to take committed recruits with him upon landing a new job. Even Brian Kelly was insulted when asked about this. And this includes taking a kid that reopens his recruitment. The coach will not take the kid at his new school. "Coaches don't want to be perceived in that light."

Unless your name is Sonny Dykes or Ra'Shaad Samples and you have no ethics so you are free to do whatever you want.

m-xc Amen to that. We used to think the used car salesman was bad, then we saw how low coaches really stoop when SD left.
