Re: Fenway Bowl CancelledUnbelievable that SMU isn't doing everything possible to play in the Sun Bowl! Fire Rick Hart!
Re: Fenway Bowl Cancelled
Rutgers is also 5-7 and ineligible for the toilet bowl a few hours ago. Lol
Re: Fenway Bowl CancelledSMU shut it down. Coaches are gone and players have gone home. Now if we could just get our truck back.
Re: Fenway Bowl Cancelled.....scramble a- - around to play In some last minute, meaningless game, and get busted 42-17....the “why in the hell did we play this game OR we stink in bowl season“ PF chirpers would be loud.
Re: Fenway Bowl CancelledTough to prepare for an unknown opponent in a few days but same applies for both teams
Re: Fenway Bowl CancelledIf the coaching staff were not changing, this would be a different discussion, but since they are, I see the logic of letting it go.
Re: Fenway Bowl CancelledWere the players, especially the seniors, asked to vote on what they want to do
![]() Many of them are probably stranded in dorm rooms because flights are very iffy in the past few days. May the forth be with us.
Re: Fenway Bowl CancelledMeanwhile, did the organizers of the Fenway Bowl decide to cancel once Virginia bailed? Consider the possibility they had a tough time selling tickets to locals to watch SMU play Virginia and how many SMU fans were going to attend? I doubt Virginia had significantly more than SMU buying tickets but with no local team that could garner some interest, I wonder if the organizers saw this as an opportunity to cut their losses rather than host an inaugural bowl game attended by hundreds of fans?
Re: Fenway Bowl CancelledMy hearing aid gal has a Freshman son at SMU playing trombone in the Band. They were set to leave on Sunday for the game when they got the news. Mom and Dad had booked flights, rooms, and other stuff around Boston, and had trouble canceling a couple of those. The son was pumped about playing in Fenway, and seeing Boston some.
She had no idea the team had been in Boston for close to a week, seeing the sights, and having a fun trip out of it. I'm not dreaming that I saw SMU Football posts on Facebook showing them around town am I ? The cancellation had to be a huge bummer for thousands of fans on both sides.
Re: Fenway Bowl CancelledA fitting conclusion to another season of futility and mediocrity. Only in an era of bowl game absurdity could SMU’s underachievement be deemed worthy of bowl game consideration. Dykes’ tenure slithers to its end.
A long tradition of existence.
Re: Fenway Bowl Cancelled
