I hope not. If we're going to do this, let's do it. Promoting assistants is what you do when a coach leaves a successful program.

He's not a bad x and o guy as shown we he was interim head coach. And the players liked him. He's probably better than most of the dreck that we'll be talking to. Right now, he may be the best option available to us, and he could be hired quickly.

Don't get JTstang and Hoop Fan excited with this possibility!! Nothing would be sweeter for them than to extend the Dement/Tubbs regime!! Maybe we won't make the tourney until 2020!! RAH RAH RAH

He's done a good job from what I can tell but this MUST be someone with prior head coaching experience, period. He did seem to do well when Dement was fired and the team responded.

He's a terrific individual and probably a future outstanding head coach. That's why he needs a change of scenery. It's in the best interests of SMU basketball to clean house... completely. Hopefully, Orsini will do the same. We're wallowing in a quagmire.

It would never work out, he'd be fired instantly. I heard Lineburg likes to buy his kids burritos and deodorant. He wouldn't even last through the NCAA investigation of Chipotle-gate.

You have to admit that you are excited by the possibility of extending the current coaching regime. After all, from your perspective, they have accomplished so much.

dont be an idiot. Tubbs had his own strenghts and had nothing to do with Dement. Lineburg, while a nice guy and good interim guy two years ago, cannot be a candidate for this job. For all we know he was the assistant that gave somebody too much of that minor tutoring help.

What? Don't you believe all that stuff you have been posting about Tubbs turning the program around? If y'all truly believe that tripe, then Lineburg should be your candidate. He would represent the continuation of the Tubbs regime. For all the bellyaching going on, I would think y'all would be demanding that Lineburg be hired.

what are you babbling about? Lineburg cannot get a foot in the door in South Dallas any more than Dement could.

You need to stick with your favorite "NO NEW FACILITIES UNTIL WE MAKE THE FINAL FOUR AGAIN" theme. Do you even read the posts you respond to? The angst on this board is about the Gramps setup, not Tubbs ability or inability to eventially succeed.

Hey McClown...

Doesn't your argument fall along the same lines of keeping Secules around and keeping the same regime going. Last time I checked, you were all over keeping Scott and his do nothing group in power. You can't even follow your own logic.

Copeland's group had to go, we got Orsini. Out with the old, in with the new.

Tubbs/Dement/Lineberg etc. what ever, had to go and you are making fun of someone who wants to keep that group around.

I want to clean house, but you have no right to make fun of someone who wants an old stand-by to stay in control.

Wake-up...You are attacking your own backwards logic...

You are right, I was in favor of hiring Scott Secules for A.D. I like Copeland, and I felt that he helped turn around the football program.

I guess that is why I don't understand why the current Tubbs faction on this board are not campaigning for Lineberg. After reading certain unnamed posters gush about Dement/Tubbs genius and recruiting acumen, I am surprised they don't want to continue that legacy.

My guess is that they are not campaigning for him because they suspect he would be another failure like Tubbs/Dement. I suspect that many of the people who have expressed moral outrage by Tubbs' firing are secretly happy we do not have to sit through one more year of his coaching.
