Not a lot of info available about dear ol' Joe Pa's direct involvement, but that phone call to one of the survivors is damning.

Re: Hell of a read about Penn State, 1979Paterno knew. They all knew. Perv state is scum. F jopa
Re: Hell of a read about Penn State, 1979Long story. Joe Pa wanted to keep the lid on the serial rapist story. What a tool.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: Hell of a read about Penn State, 1979Long story and a disturbing read. Just one more stain on Paterno's legacy. Winning over everything else...and protecting the program's image along the way. It always bothered me that an 11-1 Penn State was "voted" National Champions the year SMU fielded what I will always believe was the best team in college football that year. Both teams beat Dan Marino's Pitt team and SMU's only blemish was the tie vs Arkansas but we had the only undefeated team that year and I think 14 guys on that team went on to play in the NFL
Re: Hell of a read about Penn State, 1979
Yep; the 1982 SMU/Ped State intersection is why I posted the article. If only JoePa had quit like he almost did.
Re: Hell of a read about Penn State, 1979Great read. Thx for posting. That place is downright scary.
1982: Pedo State was blown out by Alabama on national TV mid season. Evidently this dismantling by what would turn out to be a 4 loss Alabama squad failed to resonate with most of the voters ![]()
Re: Hell of a read about Penn State, 1979Another stain in the NCAA. How this school still has a football program is beyond comprehension.
Re: Hell of a read about Penn State, 1979This was a story about one horrific character and of course Sandusky came around years later, but consider all that went on at Baylor during Art Briles' tenure. Just really sad that so many coaches and administrators at so many schools are willing to look the other way as long as their teams are winning.
