Roberts signed and redshirted with USF in 2017, played in 2018-20, but does not appear in USF's stats for the last two seasons. According to this article in the Tampa Bay Times, Roberts got benched for jawing with a Tulsa player in 2020, and head coach Jeff Scott didn't like the conversation two days later when they met to discuss the incident.

In three seasons at USF, Roberts was a playmaker, with 174 tackles, 2 sacks, 7 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and 5 interceptions. He started 39 games for the Bulls
