The issue is that if he is nationally competitive he is going to want to compete for All-American status. If I were him I would ask for a release and attend TCU, LSU, Houston, Florida State, Florida, or USC.

This is the issue SMU needs to be proactive on. Administration could adopt the recruiting mindset and grow via this case.

I'm not saying build a statue for this guy. I'm saying he is another whisper of what we need to have accommodated to support football at the highest level. Right now it seems like: "Hey #1 track athlete in the country, you can go race at UT Arlington against UTD twice a year in the spring. We support you."

Yeah, I'll have a nice ribeye and a side of CTE. Pro track athletes are compensated pretty well, plus don't have to worry about forgetting how to put shoes on and the constant drooling
