Re: Transfer Portal
Our biggest question is how well Phelps handles point
Re: Transfer Portal
That would be fantastic if that turns out to be true, because the Weathers brothers were awesome. Imagine how many games we would have won last year without themponyboy wrote:Putting it that way, as much as I loved Weathers, I’m kinda feeling a little bit better about our odds of improving those spots this coming season.

Re: Transfer Portal
I have a feeling Zhuric will blossom if he is "the guy" next year. He was probably our best defensive guard or at least every bit as effective as Bandoumel but needs to improve his ball handling and outside shooting to be as effective as Kendric was. Hopefully he will be more of an assist 1st guy instead of the team's leading scorer. Too often there seemed to be 4 guys on the floor waiting for K.D. to create his own shot and score. I want Zhuric (or whoever our PG might be) to get everyone involved and to elevate their playTerry Webster wrote:Our biggest question is how well Phelps handles point
Re: Transfer Portal
He and Smith could be a fantastic defensive backcourt. Both smart, big, athletic guys with lateral quickness and wingspan. It's understandable that they waited their turns behind Davis and Bandoumel, but they have a ton of potential. Hopefully their offense will catch up to their defense.

Re: Transfer Portal
Smith showed that he has 3 point range and if he improves could become one of the best 3 point shooting guards we've ever had. In limited action Smith & Todorovic were 2 of our top 3 three point shooters last season (Michael Weathers was 2nd to Todorovic's 43%)SMUguy wrote:He and Smith could be a fantastic defensive backcourt. Davis, Band and the twins were responsible for 53+ points of the teams 73+ points per game average last year. That’s a lot of ΓÇ£catching up.ΓÇ¥ I have little doubt we’ll see a better schemed offense than Jank’s but where the scoring is going to come from is a legit concern right now. Those guys could score the ball.

Both of ΓÇÿem, yeah. But as good as he was, Michael wasn’t as good as Marcus.Lefty wrote:That would be fantastic if that turns out to be true, because the Weathers brothers were awesome. Looks like a one year guy who could add some depth in the post and help on the boardsTerry Webster wrote:Just picked up another big guy...Efe Odigie from UTEP and Troy. 6'9 and 240.

That makes 5 new additions to go with at least 6 returnees so if Bandoumel and Lundblade are moving on, Lanier still needs to find a couple of guards, preferably another PG and a combo guard to fill out the roster. It will mean no new FR recruits in Lanier's 1st year, which might not be a bad thing.

Re: Transfer Portal
It is interesting how coach Lanier has flipped this squad from small ball to a whole bunch of good bigs. Should be interesting next year. Hope we can pick up another guard though.

Re: Transfer Portal
Definitely need another ball handler (PG/CG) for when we face full court pressure but it's good to have skilled bigs who can also help beat pressure when neededTerry Webster wrote:It is interesting how coach Lanier has flipped this squad from small ball to a whole bunch of good bigs.
