Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense andAdmittedly it's easy to like a new coach as we all want to be optimistic about the future of SMU hoops, but I really do like a lot of what Lanier had to say. Hopefully, last year's FR class will shine as they are given the opportunity to do so and hopefully we see the Zach Nutall who tore Moody up as a member of the Sam Houston State team that visited a few years back. Might turn out to be a good thing for the future of this team that Kendric chose to move on because as Lanier says, a lot of the guys on this roster could be here for 3 more years
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense andGreat interview. I hope that the players dinged up are better in a couple of months and ready to go.
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense andIf he's a good a coach as he is an interview, the team is in good hands.
Thanks, PP.
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense andHis response about his experience with US Basketball illustrates how much has has grown since his early coaching career.
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense andHow could you not be excited about this guy?
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense andGreat interview. Love his vision of what Phelps, Todo, Nutall can do. Great comments about Band - wish he was still here, but his being gone will give Phelps, Nutall and others the chance to flourish. Like Coach Lanier said, I would think one of our biggest issues in the first 15 games will be who is going to step up in the last 5 minutes of a game.
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense andInteresting explanation about the difficulty of getting Quad 1 games scheduled when those teams don't want to play those games.
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense andThanks for the interview, I would love to see one with Rhett this length.
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense and
Getting into Quad 1 and in "the club" has to be goal # 1
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense and
Pretty funny when we WERE a Quad 1 program skuttlebutt here was we couldn't schedule Quad 1 teams because they didn't want to play us at Moody. So which is it??? My money is on Lanier.
Re: VIDEO: Rob Lanier on transfers, recruiting, defense and
I assume Jank thought since we were quad one that we should be able to get home/home deals but we would not have been a quad one win as the road team since we were not top 30 NET. I agree that (hopefully) Lanier is going to be more willing to take on road games vs top 75 NET teams in order to get some quad one wins. Another big issue we face (in terms of getting teams to visit Moody) is gate revenue and what SMU can guarantee financially. While everyone is ready to crucify Hart for the re-seat money grab, I'd like to think that may have been part of a strategy in getting higher profile teams to actually visit Moody. Our fans aren't going to pay what top programs charge and I suspect that's a big part of why we are seeing such a weak home schedule
