Ro would be a huge gamble....just because he was a successful NBA player means nothing (example: Clyde at U of H) and while he has worked as a player development coach with the Mavs that is a far cry from game-time coaching.

Face it- we are probably going to have to take a chance on a young assistant from a major program. Sometimes you get lucky (Baylor: Drew), sometimes you don't (TCU: Dougherty)

basically if Evans turns us down, we are gambling on the BCS assistant of the day. Basically you can do that anytime you want. Maybe we could just hire a new one every two years until we find the magic bullet.

Unless, of course, Evans never is offered the job, in which case he can't turn us down. He's obviously one of the names being discussed, but putting him at the top of SMU's wish list (regardless of where he sits on oeach of our wish lists) is a bit premature.

I wonder what kind of recruiting pull Ro Black has in the local area. I think he should be at worst considered for the position.
I miss Troy Matthews.

I think we've already seen what "pull" does for recruiting here... pull with coaches is apparently irrelevant and pull with kids who probably aren't old enough to remember seeing you play is probably not much better.
