More Pac-12 speculationModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: More Pac-12 speculationNo doubt. I’d feel great just being in a conference akin to last year’s AAC. Sounds like we have a legit chance to even move up.
Re: More Pac-12 speculation
Possible problem with us in P12 is the ca. law about prohibiting state schools using state funds to travel to certain states and Texas is one of them. UCLA has the same problem as several b1G schools are on the list. Difference is that it is reported that a lot of UCLA alum will foot the bill for their travel expenses. Not so sure that would happen with some of the remaining schools. Would really prefer the ACC but beggars can't be choosers. ![]() Onward and upward.
Re: More Pac-12 speculationTo that I agree. But if the ACC or B12 call take it. Ive lived in LA for 30yrs and California is dying as the rest of the West. We're moving the biz this yr.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: More Pac-12 speculation
The only current school that law would apply to is Cal (Stanford is private). If needed, Bear Backers can raise enough money for the big sports and use creative scheduling for the rest. No idea if OR and/or WA have similar laws.
Re: More Pac-12 speculationGod I hope not. ACC is the only way to go and Billy Embody laid out great points particularly around GoR. The PAC12 south is going to go to Big 12.

Re: More Pac-12 speculation
I see the PAC 12 as slightly more attractive than the BIG 12 in their current iterations. Three large flagship schools on the Pacific Coast and the 4 corner flagship schools. Big 12 only has a couple of flagships, some cow colleges, and the Texas church schools. If I'm a 4 corner school I'm not leaving unless Oregon and Washington bolt to the Big10. Looking to the East, the ACC is still a nice conference even if Clemson, Florida State, and North Carolina all leave. If they go to the SEC and Big10 in North Carolina's case, we would look pretty good especially if another team from our region tagged along.
Re: More Pac-12 speculationI suspect the PAC 12 will be more proactive at making changes than the ACC. Of course we need to hope their commissioner can hold things together and add us and SDSU to help fill the void without some of the other schools bailing out.
Re: More Pac-12 speculationMake no mistake I will certainly take a PAC12 bid over staying in the now garbage town AAC.
I just think for stability, revenue, academic compatibility and overall culture: ACC is the conference and we have the thing they need a different time zone and large market. Big 12 would be next hope before the PAC just for the fact it's regional and teams with history with us. The only reason the Big12 would entertain us is as purely a defensive move. There's nothing value added from our side other than improve in academic image. Insert "this is fine" GIF
Re: More Pac-12 speculationalum11- the only way I see the B12 adding us is if they get raided and lose several teams. IMO tcwho, and rapeU would blackball us and keep us out. Yes, the ACC would be best but I don't see them making any changes in the short term. The PAC12 needs to be proactive or else it could lose more teams and then not much would be left. That could be the death knell for them.
Re: More Pac-12 speculationI’d like to join PAC now and then once ACC loses it’s top schools, join forces with the best of the rest to create something like this… all 4 time zones, solid academics, 3rd best conference.
Wash Oregon WSU Stan Cal OSU SDSU CU ASU Zona Utah SMU Memphis Ga Tech Duke Cuse BC Pitt
Re: More Pac-12 speculationPE- good idea and alignment. Plus it would shut out the pretenders- the bxx nothings.
Re: More Pac-12 speculation
You're excluding VTech, North Carolina St, Virginia and Miami. 3 of those could easily be included as well. Key is for PAC-10 to remain viable. If 4 corner schools bolt, B12 will have the upper hand in poaching the best of the ACC. I have to think the ACC & PAC understand this.
Re: More Pac-12 speculation
I read about this a bit. SDSU, SJSU, and Fresno all have to deal with this as part of the MWC and playing against Boise. Basically, you just orient the internal finances and say that it is paid with "private funds". It hasn't impacted any of those schools.
