Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamSays a lot about our history
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamSo they are saying they believe Banjo is not too small for the NFL. Blasphemy.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamI always thought of Rote more as a running back than receiver.
Either way, Sanders deserves to be there.
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL Teamwhile I agree with most and actually saw many of them play. I think some earlier players were left off- like [deleted] Hightower etc. Perhaps the author didn't know them or perhaps because they were on teams that played major teams like Ohio St. and ND. hence didn't get the recognition the deserved. Just my opinion.
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamI don't think any players from the 1936 National Champions played in the NFL, that I could find.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamMy father was a Freshman on that Rose Bowl team in 1936. All American with SMU, he went on to play with Pittsburgh Steelers before the war and Philadelphia Eagles after the war with only one hand which he lost with the Marines. There were several amputees that played Pro Ball after the war.
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamIt would fantastic if Jerry Mays could get into the NFL HoF.
Dallas Sunset HS, SMU alum, Mays was All-AFL in eight of his nine seasons in the AFL and an All-Pro in his one season in the NFL. 3-time AFL champion, 1-time Super Bowl champion. He was one of six KC Chiefs named to the all-time AFL team. Oh, and Austin pony, that is an impressive story.
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamMays was not only a great player but also an outstanding student. Plus being a good friend. Sad he passed way too soon of cancer.
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamLouie Kelcher and Kyle Rote should both be in the Hall of Fame. Dale Hellestrae should be in the deep snapper Hall of Fame if they ever create one.
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamGive me Emmanuel Tolbert and Emmanuel Sanders at WR.
No disrespect. JMO Pony P-1
Re: The All-Time SMU NFL TeamOh my bad…
