The Chop house DID have an awful funky smell to it. I think the theory is really taking hold.

I'm sold. We should tear the LXA house down. Oh, wait. We are.

Mission accomplished!

Let's assume for a minute you're correct that there's no NCAA or school reg preventing SMU from going ahead and airing its info prior to the wrap up on the NCAA investigation. Schools don’t normally announce what they’ve found before an NCAA investigation is complete. They provide what they have to the NCAA, take immediate corrective actions that might lessen potential sanctions (in this case firing Jimmy Tubbs), and wait for the NCAA to wrap its investigation and impose additional penalties if self imposed penalties aren’t enough.

Look, I’m not defending SMU’s actions. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt. These guys ought to get hell from us all if material violations on the part of Tubbs aren’t announced when the NCAA investigation is complete.

This is just icing on the cake. The SMU administration should get hell from us for twenty years of pathetic, sub-par performances in the revenue sports. All they do is fire the coach every so often and blame the poor results on them. Bob Stoops and/or Coach K wouldn't be successful under these conditions.

Please name the last coach who was fired for NCAA violations that were not made public at or before the time of the firing? I cannot recall any. Even at SMU--Steve Malin got canned for violations which came out at the time he was fired, and also at which time SMU turned over the already public results of its investigation to the NCAA and proposed a sanction for itself (which I recall turned out to be more than ND got for having that alum chick sleeping with the whole freaking football team and buying them gifts), which I also believe was adopted by the NCAA.

I agree completely. With Coach K at the helm last season we still would have been 4-10 in conference and 13-16 on the season.

You can put words in my mouth all you want. I didn't say he wouldn't have done better than 4-10.....I said he wouldn't be successful at SMU. My intent was not to compare Coach K to Coach Tubbs....come on.

Maybe the various colognes, body sprays, after shaves, parfumes, mixing together at the games creates a mixture that is just too overpowering for the average Joe Sixpack fan. Or maybe that was the smell coming out of the Chop house.

Actually, I thought your point was valid. Go back and check Coach K's record at Duke in his first couple years, before he had McDonald's All-Americans warming his bench. Let's just say it was a lot worse than 13-16.

The SAE house contributed to the overall stench in that area too, but it was more of a Mad Dog 20/20-mixed-with-Old Milwaukee smell. I had no choice but to wear it proudly like a fine cologne.

Ah yes. Old Milwaukee. 3 quarts for $1.00 when I was there. MMMMMM!

Am I the only one who longed for a cold case of Schaefer for $6.00 at Parkit Market?
