Re: Well, that was awfulSiggers wasn’t in the game in a fourth quarter third down and radio announcer thought he might be banged up. Then he was in for the fourth down but he didn’t get the ball. Maybe a decoy?
Re: Well, that was awful
I had the same thought but not being able to see the field to know whether any underneath routes were open that could have picked up a 1st down and kept moving the chains, I don't know whether those calls/decisions are on Tanner, the coaches or the other potential receivers
Re: Well, that was awfulsome of you are funny....
One one post you talk about playing with the Big Boys, attaining P5 status, competing for Championships One the next post you talk about Siggers, Lavine or TJ as contributors Make up your mind....take a side, it can't be both
Re: Well, that was awful
3-9 with the talent that Dykes pulled in is a downright disgrace.
Re: Well, that was awful
absolutely! if we lose to navy making a 4 game losing streak our goose is cooked C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Well, that was awful
You do realize RB is the most interchangeable and “substitute-able” of any position on the football field. Those guys can certainly contribute to a winning team at the G5 level. Ever heard of RB by committee. Happens even in the NFL.
Re: Well, that was awful
I'm not saying JT versus Condon. What I am saying is that JT was the only lineman who got a passing grade in the running game last night. If you have him at guard instead of tackle, the dive run up the middle is much more effective. JT and Hickman actually graded out pretty well as a whole. Some interesting notes: - PFF only credited our WR with thee dropped passes, which surprised me . PFF gave Mordicai an adjusted completion percentage of 70.5 considering the average depth of target and the drops. Drops were given to Rice, Siggers, and Corrales. - In 47 drop backs, TM was pressured 5 times. In 11 dropbacks, PS was pressured 4 times. I think a little to do with experience and pre-snap reads... - Tm was 1/9 on passes over 20 yards. Low number of attempts compared to other games this year, but also an awful completion percentage for the first time. Also interesting to note it was evenly split from left to right, other games were heavily loaded to the right. On passes over 10 yards he was 3/14. - Corrales only caught 1 of 6 targets. The secondary receivers did not have a great night. With Bailey only playing 10 snaps and Daniels sitting out, it was time for Goffney to show up in the slot and he rated out very poorly on the evening. - Maryland was in on the same number of pass plays as Redding, but only stayed in to block twice, while Redding stayed in 9 times. - As we look at the running back rotation, none of the RBs graded out well, not surprisingly. Gardner had the only burst play, but graded out poorly otherwise. Interesting to note that in the passing game Wheaton graded out really well, Siggers very poorly, and that Gardner didn't run a single route for a pass. That is going to factor into some decisions. Gardner graded out very well in pass blocking, and Siggers committed the penalty there. That is also going to start factoring in. Siggers basically didn't run well, didn't catch well, and didn't block well. Might be some change on the horizon. - Missed tackles: SMU 12, UCF 6. - Safeties and corners graded out pretty Hickman did better in the first half. Re: Well, that was awful
Ever hear of Eric Dickerson, Craig James, Charles Waggoner, Reggie Dupard, Charles Drayton and Jeff Atkins?????……yeah, i’ve seen RBs by committee firsthand. Can we match those superstars i mentioned above? No Way Can we improve the talent at RB to become the team we all want SMU to become? Yes Way
Re: Well, that was awfulBad 4th, and a little bit on our own 35 yard line. What could wrong
![]() ![]() ![]() May the forth be with us.
Re: Well, that was awfulRookie coach making rookie mistakes. A non existent pass rush that turns a shaky QB that would have thrown 3 interception under pressure into a Heisman candidate. Defense is a sieve for big plays and the O just doesn't constantly execute.
Coach has to grow up fast. Unless we get consistent on O and a develop a real pass rush soon, this is gonna be a long season.
Re: Well, that was awfulThe outcoaching was in two areas. Defensively, we played one safety high to take the run away. Was awesome in the first half, but in the second, they started running slants and killed us. Great adjustment by Malzone. Offensively, they played a safery over the top of Rice the whole time and dared us to win a different way. We haven't been able to sustain drives with out a big play or PI call.
