Homecoming and good weather will help but Cincinnati won't bring many fans. I would expect about the same as Navy, i.e., 24k announced with maybe 20k in attendance but with people roaming and settling in the south end zone it will look more like 15k to the TV audience

I agree, it looks great when that south end zone is packed in the first half with students, but their absence from the stands, looks absolutely horrible on tv.

That's why I'd like to see more boxes/suites and media stations built on the east side although the problem becomes looking into the setting sun. Would be a "better look" for TV to view the west/shaded stands.

I think that's what Navy does.

Northwestern is in a premier conference, has almost twice the students as SMU and is building a 35k stadium.
Why would SMU build anything more?????????????????
Jazz it up, keep it around 32k capacity, somehow get into the PAC, have an ADept that can market SMU to get an additional local support...and make it a goal to have ~25k per game for lower named visitors. That's as realistic as it gets.
Don't move into P5 and attendance will become laughable.
Alex will do an Over/Under thread on which teams will draw under 8k....Temple, Charlotte, FAU, UAB, Rice, Tulsa, Tulane, ECU....the opportunities are endless

At that point I would say make the 2nd level all suites or hybrid just to get the revenue. We seem to do well on that.

I think TCU game proves that with a competitive SMU (or at least the perception of the team being competitive) and a relevant-to-our-fans regional foe, we can put 35k-40k butts in a renovated and expanded Ford Stadium.
Beyond that, I don't know. I also just can't wrap my head around paying premium money to sit in an end zone to "watch" the game, but that's just me.

Small private school, twice our enrollment, located in city twice the size of Dallas…they host Ohio St, Michigan, Michigan St, Iowa, Wisconsin, Penn St, Illinois is an in-state opponent…soon to include USC. If Northwestern caps at 35k, SMU should cap at 32k. Make it with nicer amenities, like more suites…but don’t add seats.

Good point. We should consider Northwestern our peer football school like Duke and Villanova are our peer basketball schools.
