I have been a Pony fan now for 67 years and seen the good and ugly teams. With the football dynamics moving the way they are I conclude we will never be big time again. Our got what he wanted.

Thank goodness Cincy is playing bad too. We’re still in the game. One score game.

Stone played his guts out as did Rashee but Rice has been playing hurt and it shows. Nice comeback by our guys to make it entertaining there at the end but Cincy just has better athletes; granted they played like thugs once we started doming back on them but their mistakes kept us in that game.

Hopefully Preston gets the start at Tulsa but it is looking like this team will do well to finish .500 at this point. I said coming into this stretch that our guys had to win 3 of 5 (starting @ Orlando vs UCF) to have any chance of finishing with a winning record and now it comes down to having to win @ Tulsa and then beating Houston. That would leave this team 5-4 and having to win 2 of 3 vs USF, Tulane & Memphis which I still think would be possible but it's week to week now.

Pre-season goal of competing for an AAC Championship is gone barring a miracle so I'm still hopeful they are talented enough to at least get to a random bowl game and get the young guys more experience.

I think he was referring to our former President Ken Pye who thought athletics should be intramural

Some will say the future AAC is barely a step up from the intramural sports Pye wanted for SMU but the truth is it will be a group of schools with a talent level more comparable to SMU's. I just hate to see Ford Stadium expanded because we aren't going to need more seats when we can't fill the 32k that currently exist.

On to Tulsa and a battle of 3-4 teams. Tulsa is more our speed and we've had some really close games with them. SMU holds a 15-13 all time advantage but Tulsa has won 6 or the last 8 games and 4 of the last 6 meetings which were all one score games. Winner has a chance to go bowling but the loser is ready for basketball to get started.

While the donor’s generosity is wonderful, we need to keep the hill. I’d rather see kids having fun on the hill than more empty seats. Surely, that $ could be used elsewhere.
