In TM’s defense, he was getting almost 0 help from a the WRs. We couldn’t catch a cold today.soccermom wrote:Hope TM’s injury isn’t serious. Having said that, we need to let Stone get the playing time. TM was playing like a freshman today. Let’s start getting Stone ready for next year.

That’s true, but he way overthrew them in the first half multiple times.

Re: Start Stone
Tanner Mordecai is by far the worst QB I’ve ever seen take a snap at SMU.
Can we PLEASE move on now?

Disagree - he would start at about 2/3+ CFB schools IMO.Glenn Sosbee wrote:Tanner Mordecai is by far the worst QB I’ve ever seen take a snap at SMU.

Yes, more Stone and Wheaton please! And I think Sonny knew full well what he was getting in Ft Worth and has to be feeling really good about his decision. He also acknowledged he thought he had taken SMU as far as he could so he pretty much knew we would lose to UCF & Cincy again. Let's just hope Lashlee can build a better program in the future and that SMU can once again compete for a conference championship, even if it is in a watered down AAC because like it or not, that's where this program belongs (at least for now)PonyPhan wrote:Start Stone. Camar needs 20 touches a game. And get other receivers involved. We need to see what we have if we are going to make any progress. Otherwise we are treading water and going no where.
And as I watch this tcu game, do you all think Sonny and staff would have done more with this roster?

TM had a bad game, but this is probably the silliest post EVER on PonyFans. In one season and a half, Mordecai is among SMU’s top passers in every category.Glenn Sosbee wrote:Tanner Mordecai is by far the worst QB I’ve ever seen take a snap at SMU.

Either that, or you haven’t been watching SMU football for very long.

I call B.S on Sonny knowing what was in the cupboard at TCU. TCU’s QBs (Patterson recruits) — including the current one, whom apparently they think is worthy of Heisman consideration — have been junk over the past several years. If you think Sonny knows what he’s doing, how come Duggan was third string (behind Chandler Morris for goodness sakes) coming into the season?PerunaPunch wrote:Charleston Pony wrote:Yes, more Stone and Wheaton please! You don't think Sonny knew TCU's roster almost as much as he knew SMU's? He had to prepare for them while at SMU and prepared well enough to beat them twice so it's not like he took over an unknown. He also balanced his gains and losses through the portal and I expect he knew very well that TCU would be competitive. He knew he had a couple of experienced QBs coming back that had proved they could win games at this level. Did he expect Duggan to perform as well as he has? I doubt it and don't think anyone did. Did he expect to be undefeated at this point in the season? I expect he hoped they might be but doubt he really thought it. I think when he commented that he had taken SMU as far as he could he was just acknowledging the difference in being G5 vs P5 and just like June Jones he had seen that even with the early success his SMU teams had, we still couldn't generate much more fan interest. Sad but true...we are who we are.

Re: Start Stone
Two options:
1. Play a quarterback recovering from a concussion and likely other injuries.
2. Give the quarterback of the future meaningful game time to prepare for next season.
Either way we're looking at a best case scenario of a 7-5 or 6-6 season and a minor bowl.
I vote for door #2.

Nice… as for the other genius here calling me out, McDermott beat TCU in Fort Worth so putting him in the same sentence as Ben Hicks is on you bro.
Furthermore, anyone that was in diapers in the early eighties or probably more than likely 20 years ago, judging from both of your comments, has ZERO credibility here other than in your own minds.
