Ours look bad, but I understand the reason (appealing to recruits). As much as I dislike them, and I do, they are not the ugliest ever at SMU. That honor remains with the horrific grey and pink ones created by Morris.

Between the pewter color and the "D" helmets, a casual TV viewer would have had little idea who it was. As bad as those red jerseys a few years ago which looked like the NY Jets.

The black uniforms are exceptionally ugly for my taste. SMU has one of the best looking and very recognizable helmets in college football, but we find a way not to wear it for half our games. I am biased, of course, but the blue jersey, white pants and white helmet with the red pony is a top 5 college uniform. Please wear them.

And for the younger folks on the board, yes I am a boomer and get off my lawn while your at it.

I was a student at SMU during the Dave Smith era. Only thing I disliked about those uniforms was
the helmet. Should've been red with white running pony decal, or second choice blue with white
running pony decal and red stripe on the top. Third would be blue running pony decal on the silver
Ohio State copy helmet.

I was there as well and thought the only thing missing was leather helmets. Did not care for the throw back look. I don't hate the black unis but I did not like them vs Memphis as there were times I was thinking "wrong team". Bottom line is the players/seniors wanted to wear them so I'm fine with that. I recall Lashlee disclosing in an earlier interview that it was Rashee's idea to create some black unis for this year and Rhett was all in to please his star.
