some of the top players Benford is credited with are Ike Diogu and Lamont Long, Charles Smith, Kenny Thomas and Clayton Shields the Top 4 scorers in New Mexico history. He is considered a top recruiter.

That is what I was thinking. I really would prefer a head coach with D1 experience, not to mention experience in turning around a program in similar shape to where we are today.

Arkansas did the smaller school, young, entergetic type hire and they are paying for it. To help rectify the situation, Frank Broyles made the coach hire an assistant who was a former big school head coach but now too old to get a new job at a D1 school. That has helped their situation some what. We could do the opposite by hiring the proven D1 with a younger staff to move up if and when there is success and the head man retires.

And by the way...those of us in our 50s do not look at 59 as very old.

Interesting that of the three Evans asssistants, we talked of two coming here. The third was just hired as the head coach of UTSA.

Are you still hoping that Tubbs is hired back?

Nobody ever said that. Just an explanation for his firing over and above burgers and Cheer. We never got that.
