Most people think of coach Evans as a retread. His career has been in the decline, plus he is almost eligible for social security.

more like the tarnish Max Williams has put on the program. Unless you know something we don't, Tubbs did not do any damage to the program.

MustangIcon wrote:For God sakes Hoop. You have to have some sort of agenda here. DISD coaches this, old rich man Max screws us and Tubbs, the implications of this will be big and could come off as racist, the only coach I like is Rob Evans, etc etc. I used to think you were close personal friends with Tubbs. Now I have come to realize the error in my ways. You must either be the president of the NAACP or the Reverend Jesse Jackson himself. One of the two. That is the only explination possible at this point.

Regardless who we bring in I wish coach Tubbs all the best, he seemed like a very nice guy the few times I met him. I also hope that the new headcoach, whoever it may be, is a success at SMU and a couple years from now we look back at his hiring as a turning point for our program. Lastly, I will pray every night that we can leave behind any tarnish left by anyone so I won't have to hear about it anymore.

my agenda is what I think is best for SMU basketball and fair treatment for anybody associated with it. Your buddy McClown made a slanted statement and I responded to it and asked him if he knew something the rest of us did not. I have very little respect for Jesse Jackson and if you really want to go there I lose a little respect for anybody who automatically takes a position as a strict democrat or republican. Think for yourself and forget the labels and quit trying to label me.

I'm not the one that stirred the pot with the derogatory reference to anybody, your buddy McClown did.

I think Jean-Jacques Taylor from the DMN said it best on the "real reason" Tubbs got fired.....to bad smu didn't handle it right though.....

"I don't think anyone has a problem with firing Tubbs. In today's era of sports, those who don't win get fired. Quickly."

Finally somebody states the obvious. SMU has become a school where you get exactly two years to turn around ten years of prior ineptitude before you get FIRED FOR YOUR RECORD. Burgers and Cheer, as we've all known, is just a red herring. I would not be surprised if SMU put Max Williams up to the set-up just to give them an excuse. Good luck getting anything more than a has-been to come to this situation.

what do you do about a school which never wins anything-ever? I guess you just keep firing coaches ever two years so all you geniuses keep donating money to the Mustang Club.

Historically, SMU has shown patience with its coaches and staff. To suggest that the Tubbs matter is the rule rather than the exception is disingenuous.

Do you guys have to hijack every thread for your own agendas??????? Can you not just b*tch on the same thread so the rest of us know not to look at it?

Back on topic, still waiting for the link, otherwise this thread needs to get a new name.
