PAC12 Scenario = ExpansionModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: PAC12 Scenario = ExpansionOnce CA board of regents allows UCLA to leave (Dec 14) then we’ll be added. That’s the narrative, right?
Re: PAC12 Scenario = Expansionlet's hope santa brings us a nice expansion present instead of a lump of coal.
Re: PAC12 Scenario = ExpansionAfter the CA Board of Regents likely concedes the departure of UCLA this morth, the next steps include Grant of Rights and Media Deal for the remaining PAC12 (PAC10) schools.
The expansion choices are probably part of a Media Deal, since the value of agreements is conditional on any value added and the number of new conference invitations. The assumed timeline is in January. Pony Up
Re: PAC12 Scenario = Expansion
Decision is dec 14th. I would guess everything is in place assuming they’re gone. New members and money. Would be pretty easy to do a plan either way - and they need to announce TV deal soon and also new members as schedules change down the road and that is tricky.
Re: PAC12 Scenario = ExpansionFWIW PAC Commissioner George Kliavkoff has gone on record as saying he doesn’t expect a media rights deal to be completed this year
Re: PAC12 Scenario = Expansion
Thats what I have seen too. There's no reason for the PAC to be hasty. I would assume they want to get the best deal possible to lock in a GoR. Once all of that is done then it's to expansion and all that. I would assume January the earliest and March the latest. The only pressure on them going quick is if macro economic pressures like a recession will hurt their desire for a big deal. Amazon or Apple or both are probably going to be the providers since they will pay the most for it and there's already a "PAC12" channel infrastructure ready. Insert "this is fine" GIF
Re: PAC12 Scenario = ExpansionNew reports that OK and TX are looking to join the SEC a year early in 2024 to align with the arrival of B1G10's new schools, USC and UCLA.

Re: PAC12 Scenario = ExpansionThey are looking to exit so they can get their money earlier. They might be able to get out since the new Big 12 contract doesn't go down in value from the old one. Might actually be a little surprising if they can't make it happen for 2023.
Re: PAC12 Scenario = ExpansionUC Regents allow UCLA to leave the PAC by 11-5 vote.

Re: PAC12 Scenario = ExpansionFerris is the new commissioner.
Re: PAC12 Scenario = Expansion
Jason, I think you are referring to the B12 GOR and I agree that the terms of the new B12 deal are beneficial for UT and OU's early departure. I also think that regardless of GOR, both schools have to pay exit fees in the neighborhood of $80M each and that the B12 will hold them to this amount. That's why talk of the PAC poaching existing B12 members is folly. Those schools would lose their share of the UT-OU GOR & exit fees, plus they would be on the hook for their own GOR and exit fees. lol, at least that's what I glean from the internet.

Re: PAC12 Scenario = ExpansionCould the looming Pac-12 issue make the New Mexico Bowl even more important, as a statement to the Pac-12 (or any other conference)? I assume the leagues will make their decisions regardless of how Saturday turns out.
