Hurricanes to the HilltopThe Twitterverse is indicating that Coach Lashlee has pulled a couple of his former players from Miami through the transfer portal.
The first is running back Jaylon Knighton, nicknamed “The Rooster”. The second player is 6’4 275 lb strong side DE Elijah Roberts. "It’s hard to overstate how impressive SMU has been on the recruiting trail since the ACC announced the Mustangs would be joining the league”

Re: Hurricanes to the HilltopA paif of 4 star Florida guys who will hopefully upgrade the roster.
Knighton looks like a nice addition to the RB room. In 3 years at Miami the guy never lost a fumble and averaged over 4 yards per carry as well as more than 10 yards per reception. Should have 2 years eligibility left? https://247sports.com/player/jaylan-knighton-46046875/ https://www.espn.com/college-football/p ... n-knighton https://miamihurricanes.com/roster/jaylan-knighton/ Roberts should compete for a starting position or at least add depth and should also have 2 more years? https://247sports.com/Player/Elijah-Rob ... ol-211777/ https://www.espn.com/college-football/p ... ah-roberts https://miamihurricanes.com/roster/elijah-roberts-2/

Re: Hurricanes to the HilltopYou have to get through ads, but here are some highlights. Looks like a nice balance of power and speed, and good hands out of the backfield, too.

Re: Hurricanes to the HilltopThere are four players from Miami here over this weekend, keep your eyes and ears open.
Re: Hurricanes to the HilltopThis tweet sure makes it look like DT Jordan Miller (6-4, 320) has jumped in to the Miami-to-Dallas pipeline:

Re: Hurricanes to the Hilltop
BUS approves
Re: Hurricanes to the HilltopOne of the all time great Canes, Russell Maryland, has a significant interest in the SMU football program. Hopefully that might help with some of the guys from Coral Gables. That's a nice recruiting tool. I'm just saying.
Re: Hurricanes to the HilltopApproved!
Now let's get more BIGS. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
Re: Hurricanes to the HilltopGoodness - Knighton has another gear we haven't seen since ....................... Johnnie Fitzgerald?
Re: Hurricanes to the Hilltop
Since Ulysses Bently IV ? Love this guy and hope that he can be used properly in the SMU offense, getting him into space with the ball. Miami fans seem to think he was much better in RL offense. "Moral Victories Make Me Sick" - TR

Re: Hurricanes to the HilltopHi guys. I'm a Hurricane alum that currently lives in Houston. SMU might just become my (semi) local team to follow and cheer for. I loved what Coach Lash did to utilize Miami's talent during his stint with us. While I'm hopeful that Coach Cristobal will be able to improve our program through recruiting a higher number of elite athletes, I don't think he did a good job modifying his gameplan to the actual athletes that Miami had (has) on the roster.
Anywho, here's a rundown on your new additions. Jaylan Knighton has shown flashes in a fairly crowded, yet uninspiring, RB group during his time at Miami. Contrary to what was posted earlier in this thread, he fumbles A LOT, and at very inopportune times that have cost us more than one victory. His YPC is actually better under Mario than it was under Lash, but he wasn't ever the 1st string except due to injuries to players ahead of him. He'll probably perform better if your OL isn't completely incompetent. Decent receiver, not a great blocker. DE Elijah Roberts and DT Jordan Miller were both depth pieces on Miami's defensive line. Miller would likely have garnered significant playing time next season with Darrell Jackson also leaving. Roberts is the better player, but not as much of a loss due to Miami's depth at the edge positions. Not mentioned in this thread, but I believe WR Key'Shawn Smith might also be transferring to SMU. Good straight-ahead speed but not elusive. He made more of an impact returning kicks. Had issues running complex routes, and would likely never beat out Xavier Restrepo or Colbie Young for a starting spot.
