Re: Speed
Record announced he is transferring to Weber State.
Knighton, at least, appears to be exceptionally fast.

Re: Speed
I'm going to tell you my age, but one of my favorite SMU players was John Roderick. He was on the SMU track team and Hayden Fry invited him to play football. I saw the SMU Navy football game in 1963. It was unbelievable. Roderick was a BIG reason SMU won. (Navy only lost two games that year SMU and Texas) From then on it was fun to watch Roderick outrun defenses on passes, and running plays. He was SO fast (9.4in the 100) and one of the reasons I have always looked for speed on the football field.

I think it was Chad Morris who said about recruiting: "you either have speed or you end up chasing it"

I remember John Roderick. That was around the same time that the Cowboys' Bob Hayes taught the NFL how important speed was on the field.

Re: Speed
There is no way Roderick ran a 9.4 100m. That would be a World Record even today, and over half a second over the record time in 1960s of 10 flat...
Re: Speed
Bob Hayes ran a 9.1 hundred yards...twice.
My dad did dental work on some of the Cowboy players in the early-late 60s. Said Hayes had the largest calves of any human he had ever seen.
Bet Roderick was timed at 100 yards as ponyswim noted.
