Oregon report on expansion/realiginment, media partners

Re: Oregon report on expansion/realiginment, media partners
I saw a report that the PAC and ACC might merge. But the ACC has their TV deal nailed down through 2030. I would guess that would open up their GOR now. That kind of merger could put holding on to Clemson, FSU and others into jeopardy if the SEC decides to poach. IΓÇÖm kind of curious why NBC hasnΓÇÖt jumped in. They lost NHL programming. Picking up the PAC would give them some needed Saturday programming.

Tweet from Sideline Sports Network, whoever that is:
Forbes reports that following the Pac 12's media negotiations, talks are likely to resume between the Pac 12 & ACC regarding a partnership known as the APAC (Atlantic-Pacific Ath. Conf.) Both conferences believe the merger would lead to greater media deal in 4 yrs time.

DuckWire provides the rationale for ACC and PAC-12 to eventually merge, which saves the PAC=12 (keeping the currently 10 members in place) and providing the ACC a future along the PAC-12 to become a power comparable to the SEC and B1G10. The Atlantic Pacific Athletic Conference (APAC) would be impressive academically and athletically coast-to-coast. This two dozen future member conference would include SDSU and SMU.

Your pull quote says ΓÇ£two dozenΓÇ¥ but the article makes clear they are musing about 26 schools, which includes SDSU and SMU. I donΓÇÖt know where they assume Notre Dame will have gone or if they just overlooked their current full ACC membership for everything but football (partial).

Lol, SMU is profiled with the rest of the possible APAC and they tout our media market and recent football and basketball success. But instead of saying ΓÇ£historically good footballΓÇ¥ like some of the other schools profiled, they say ΓÇ£historically good golf.ΓÇ¥
As some other poster said, we could very well waltz into the third best conference. WouldnΓÇÖt that be something?

And with NIL we could start winning on a national level.
We know how to do this!
Now, it is legal.

Still need to follow the rules carefully because everyone will be watching "little old SMU":

That is the whole point. Get working within an NIL. Don't go playing cowboy and prove what you can do alone. We have lawyers making sure SMU is competing but doing it the RIGHT/LEGAL way.
That is why I post the link to .
This NIL and SMU has worked it out and is Crossing T's and Dettling I's. We have the alumni base with discretionary income to be a national player.
Just DO It

Interesting tech read about MLS launch in Apple TV. https://www.theverge.com/2023/2/27/2361 ... kend-price

MLS opening weekend on Apple TV points to an expensive future for sports streaming / The service works as advertised, but its potential success could make being a soccer fan a very costly hobby. So many cool things that they could do to revolutionize college football streaming.

I like to imagine a world where we would stream games with no ads. How amazing would that be? Only possible on a subscriber supported platform.

True SMU has been under a microscope for 37 years. That is long enough.

Soccer in this country has always been an expensive hobby and endeavor to pursue - in direct inversion to the rest of the world. Rather puzzling.
Re: Oregon report on expansion/realiginment, media partners
The Hispanic demographic is ever growing. Given that soccer will only increase in popularity in this country.
