Pac-12 CEO meeting was moved to today. So, perhaps some word this evening or tomorrow.

CP, it is an accepted fact that during the Vietnam War with the hippie movement and college-wide anti war protests, many conservative well-to-do parents, specifically from the Chicago area, who wanted their kids to be in a more peaceful, conservative environment, sent their kids to SMU

I suspect between 1970-1985, a majority of out of state students to SMU came from Illinois

I attended ΓÇÿ68 to ΓÇÿ72 and back then it was generally accepted Illinois was second to Texas in enrollment. Doubt that is the case today. And OBTW, it shouldnΓÇÖt surprise anyone that the vast majority of Illinois students during that era came from Chicagoland.

Things are looking pretty dire right now for the Pac 12 media contract. Perhaps SMU would be better off staying in the AAC for a while longer. $7M per year may be better than the uncertainty that the conference is going to hold together. And the visibility could be far worse than what we have at present.

Good lord, no. You're reading a lot of Big 12 propaganda. We'll know soon enough if Kliavkoff has truly been admirably tight-lipped and effective or just lost at sea. But there is no world where SMU playing the PAC schools on Apple/Amazon is worse than SMU playing Charlotte and UAB on god-knows-what-network. Others have already addressed how streaming gets on linear/cable as well.

Question: are we better off staying in the AAC and finishing 11-1 and getting to the CFP. or going to the Pac-12 and finishing 6-6 and not getting to the CFP? Of course that may not be our choice anyway if we don't get an invitation to join the Pac-12.

ThatΓÇÖs an awfully silly argument. ItΓÇÖs allllllll money. 30 million is better than 7 million even if we end 1-11

True. Also: 11-1 over the new AAC isnΓÇÖt 11-1 over the old one. Could easily do that and not make the playoff in favor of a Boise or App State. There will be only one G5 participant.

ThatΓÇÖs true, the new AAC may be better than the old one after 10 years. TheyΓÇÖre getting a good start with Tulane, UTSA, and UAB. Not to mention SMU, Navy, and Memphis.

If we receive a PAC-12 Invitation while their future may be cloudy, we should accept in any case. In addition to greater media payouts, the important objective for SMU at this time is to get into the P5 Club.

The health of college football is in danger with the formation of two pending super conferences and the predatory behavior against the PAC-12 by a peer conference.

While the PAC-12 may experience on-going threats, the ACC's future may also be a risk.

The BigXII probably won't experience further erosion since they have already been picked apart with Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, A&M, Texas, and Oklahoma's departures. (Can't recall if Arkansas was ever in the BigXII?)

While I remain cautiously optimistic, a decision by the PAC-12 to not expand will hurt us, SDSU, and their future viabililty. SDSU and SMU can add value back when USC and UCLA depart. I hope the remaining the ten PAC-12 schools determine expansion helps them be competitive and stay together.

So much misinformation going around - all due to suckers buying in to the garbage being disseminated via a Big12 propaganda campaign run by the sports consulting firm Endeavor. Fact: There has been no predatory behavior by the Big 12 because none in the PAC 12 are remotely interested. Fact: The media deal is still moving along nicely. Fact: SDSU and SMU are a core part of that deal and will get official invites. Fact: Though itΓÇÖs probably just a few weeks away from being done, the media deal doesnΓÇÖt have to be done until late summer. The timeline narrative is also being driven by propagandists. Everyone involved, truly involved, is relaxed and confident.

Sorry - by ΓÇ£suckersΓÇ¥, I mean those in the media who should know better than to report such garbage.

I hope you are right. But it seems to me that if SDSU/SMU were a core part of the media deal, they should already have invitations and be in on the negotiations.
