Which transfer will make the biggest 2023 impact?

Post by Lefty »

Ponies have loaded up in the portal, landing potential studs at a lot of positions.

I'm saying Kobe Wilson or Jonathan McGill.

Outstanding question. This is a tough one and may even be tough to declare at the end of the season with some much talent coming in.

I think McGill is a good choice. Jaylen Knighton also jumps out to me. But IΓÇÖm going to go with Ahmad Walker.

Would also be interesting to debate which position group will be most aided by transfers. Every single group will likely be heavily impacted.

The BIGGEST impact should be Hyrin White ... right?

I'll go with Ahmad Walker or Megginson.

Good picks, I would also consider, Jordan Miller. Elijah Roberts, Hyrin White and as the season progresses-Jordan Hudson.

obviously not transfers but I think the biggest impact will be how our coaches handle all of this talent that has been brought in. If they can build successful cohesive units we will be at the top of the conference. If not then we will be very disappointed.

Good point. Having talented depth is a wonderful luxury, and if the staff can make the pieces fit, and keep players from transferring if they don't get as many minutes as they feel they deserve, then the staff will have led a master class in navigating the transfer portal.

Jordan Miller will make a huge (literally) impact in a pretty thankless role, eating up blockers so others can make plays.

I just hope we have some guys who come in this year with an infectious "refuse to lose" attitude that helps propel this group to an AAC title. For all the talk of moving up to compete at the P5 level, it sure would be nice to actually win a championship while still competing in a G5 conference

Amen to that. Enough of this P5 speculation, it's time to show it on the field. We are one of five teams out of fourteen in the conference without at least one conference championship to its name since the year 2000. It's time for the Ponies to earn promotion and not depend on the "Dallas market" or our "SWC legacy" or potential. We have advantages most of our conference mates don't have, and yet no titles.

I think Kobe Wilson may be really good for us, even though he didnΓÇÖt generate as much fan hype as some of the others that committed.

Miller, Knighton, Woods, Walker may be the biggest starters for us this year. IΓÇÖm hoping the Texas A&M RB really does well after Knighton moves on too.

Out of the three WR transfers, interested to see who looks the best this year.

The big Miami DE may also have a big impact this year. Sounds like he looked good.

Secondary has so many potentially standouts too.

Let's hope the combination of DL and secondary depth leads to a turnover advantage for the Mustangs this year. Preston needs to mature quickly and our RBs have to hold onto the ball. Win the turnover battle and this team should have at least a chance to win every game on the schedule
