Realignment update? Does this mean SMU will get their spot in the Big 10 when they are kicked out? Maybe Northwestern, Penn State and Baylor could break away and form their own conference; the SAC? Do you think 15 other schools would split their money with SMU? Talk about bottom feeders, we haven't even sniffed a conference championship in 39 years.

I think with NIL that will change. I think they know that we can afford the best team money can buy. We've done it before and we can do it again.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Fitzgerald and his staff are goners
50/50 chance someone above Fitz also gets their ticket punched
It’s a terrible look, no doubt
Sadly this crap still happens. Happened when I was a kid and happens today. Hell Micah Parsons allegedly did this not too long ago at Penn State and no one cared.

I agree. Hazing in all its forms from silly to tragic has been an historic trait in schools, fraternities, clubs, and sports teams. I experienced it with a focus on stupidity. I am no fan of hazing. It is no right of passage. It is unnecessary and belittling in how it is experienced.

Agreed with above. Fun and team building I can understand. I bucked up and took out a few people as I do and did not appreciate hazing. Just Stupid.

I don't see how Fitzgerald survives this. A head coach is responsible for everything that goes on in his program and while I find it incredibly difficult to believe he did not know what was going on, if he didn't know what was going on, he needs to be let go for incompetence.

One of the “hazing” activities when I came in was to stand on the student union steps wearing our little beanies and ask the young ladies coming up the steps for a kiss. When the upperclassmen noticed most of the young ladies were more than eager to oblige, the upperclassmen took our beanies and assumed our places.

Not entirely true. A couple hundred of us remember attending that game against UCF in Orlando for the CUSA title in the JJ era. While it never appeared we were going to win that game, we were not completely humiliated so we at least "sniffed" the CUSA Championship that day.

I was kinda making the point that what happens at Northwestern has little to nothing to do with conference realignment. Interesting post but maybe in a new thread ?

I suppose, it's due to the following reasons: 1) there was reference to Northwestern previously in this thread, albeit on a separate point 2) I didn't feel like starting a new thread and it does involve a university in the B10, which is one of the two most two relevant conferences that appears to be pulling the strings on realignment 3) there is no real updates on realignment. If it was actual content on the realignment process, we'd be on page 1, not page 30. HubbaHubba wrote:SMUstang wrote:HubbaHubba wrote: Realignment update? Today Dan Patrick, the sports guy not the Lieutenant Governor, says SDSU and SMU will be invited to PAC per SDSU source after discussion with source this past weekend. Source says Boise and UNLV have slim chance of being 13 and 14 citing low academic ranking and lack of commitment to other sports. PAC presidents like SMU academics and having a presence in Texas. No mention of worry about media deal.
